Our Multi-Curve Level III Steel Plate (specifications below) is one of our most popular and nimble plates for its reliable stopping power in tandem with its thinness (at just .26” thick) and ergonomic fit.For stopping power, this plate has been independently tested in accordance with NIJ 0101.06 threat levels through Oregon Ballistics (OBL), and H.P. White Laboratories: As such, it is rated to stop 7.62x51 M80 NATO Ball (.308 Winchester) and special threat tested to stop 5.56mm M855/SS109 (Green Tip), both at velocities of up to 2,780 FPS. Also, unlike ceramic or polyethylene alternatives, this plate is able to stop several hits from the above threats without shattering or buckling.The Multi-Curve Level III Steel plate also delivers this protection in our most comfortable hard armor shape, designed to match the contours of the torso. Other benefits of this plate model include its patented Advanced Shooters Cut design and its protective FragLock™ Coat:The patented Advanced Shooters Cut shape gives you additional room for your rifle stock, making shooting more ergonomic and comfortable; this is available in right and left-handed configurations. It is compatible with all standard plate carriers that accept SAPI or traditional Shooters Cut body armor, given there is an appropriately sized chest plate pocket. This feature, together with the unique shape and thinness of the plate (.26” thick), does well to mitigate the common issue of armor being bulky or uncomfortable to wear. Finally, the FragLock™ Coat is added to do things: First, it is applied to protect the plate against elements that may corrode or weaken the steel otherwise; this gives it a twenty-year shelf life without a need for maintenance.
