Plenty of high quality backpacks out there in the $40-50 range. Add your preferred level and type of armor to the laptop pouch and you have the same thing.

I'm planning on adding armor to the backpack in my car I just haven't decided if I want level iiia soft armor (my worries are it degrading in the temp and humidity fluctuations in my car trunk) or a level iii plate

I put a AR500 level 3 plate in my backpack and its only 8lbs. Don’t need to worry about the weather and it can take a 308 from 10 feet away

I would really like some polyethylene body armor plates due to the weight savings over steel and the cost savings over ceramic but they are supposedly useless if they get below 15F or above 150F even once (their molecular structure breaks down) so they would be useless for a car kit here in NC where both would be a multiple time per month event during their respective season. I do have a level IIIA polyethylene vest which I keep in my closet. Seems to be of good quality but I haven't shot it though ;)

That's a lot of money for a backpack without armor. Hint: you can add armor to any backpack and would be especially easy if it had a hydration or laptop compartment....you just saved $100!

Edit: I appears they have changed the item to include the armor since my original post. (I didn't mean to up vote myself]
