It also features low-profile Hypalon shoulder straps which allow for near unobstructed movement, including the ability to shoulder your rifle, and has rugged side-buckles made in the United States.The accompanying 9x9 Octagonal Level III Steel Plates, made especially for this carrier, are designed to cover your vitals while not adding even an extra inch or ounce beyond what is necessary. This allows for greater flexibility: Carry the armor under your car seat or in your backpack, and be ready to don it at any time with no hassle. Also, these plates come already multi-curved, which means they can match the shape of the torso better, improving mobility and comfort. But this armor’s lightweight and improved ease of use come at no sacrifice of quality: This Level III armor is perfectly capable of stopping pistol and rifle rounds, tested to stop 7.62x51 M80 NATO Ball (.308 Winchester) at a velocity of up to 2,780 FPS, and special threat tested to stop 5.56mm M855/SS109 (Green Tip) at a velocity of 2,780 FPS. These results are confirmed by independent tests done in accordance with NIJ 0101.06 threat levels through Oregon Ballistics (OBL), and H.P.
