live close enough, but they will not sell them over the counter due to address on my id does not match my current, like I am going to get a new id 3 years early to buy from them. this is for lowers or anything that requires a NICS check

Check this out (H.B.234), Aim Surplus may not be aware yet; http://www.thetruthaboutguns.com/2014/12/dean-weingarten/ohio-gov-kasich-signs-gun-law-reform-bill-into-law-h-b-234/...

"Extends Ohio CHL permit expiration to the date of expiration on the permit, instead of upon change of residency."

that sucks, especially since their shipping is outrageous.

I put a stripped upper in my cart, asked for a shipping quote and the shipping amount came up as $11 and some change. "OK" I said, then I filled out the account fields with email and password to buy the item. Started to check out
process again and ask for shipping estimate again and now the shipping went to over $16 !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Why
did not buy

No "t-marks" if that matters any. Doesn't seem to be the same quality as PSA. Finish came off pretty easy and I can't get the dust cover to stay shut on this one( I don't use the cover anyways but it annoys me) Not sure if it's the door or the cover but I like the PSA uppers better.

picked up 2 to help offset the 15 bucks for shipping to residential. shipping to a business address was only 8 bucks!

Why don't AIM sell the sport model cheaper than this model...

594 in stock now.. it's sad when a $40 upper seems expensive only because I just got the anderson lowers for $40

Can anyone who has built an ar put together a list of components and prices if one were to lurk and buy lower, parts kit, this and a barrel for a basic (DEALS) range gun. Im wondering what this would take ($) vs buying a basic low priced colt or doublestar, I like to learn about things by diy/building, and from experience know it usually easier and less to buy the product, but the process is interesting in building things.

It all depends. If you are planning for just plinking, simple role ARs you could get a build kit for under $450 (I've seen some for $375 on here). This includes everything you need, including an assembled upper, but it DOES NOT include the stripped lower. The stripped lower can go for as low as $35 for a polymer or $60 for a 7075/7076 (alluminum) lower. Basic DPMS models can go for $600 total, maybe $550, where as building your own can stay under $500. Remember though, the lower needs to be sent to your local FFL which will most likely charge you for using them (generally $20-30). My first build I was able to custom choose everything and have an M16A4 clone for under $700. Building a lower is simple and you just need a screwdriver, punches, hammer, and an armor wrench (an additional total of maybe $40).
