Have had my Predator for about 5 years now and is still my favorite AR for the longer range shoots without burning money.. Usually shoot PMC X-tac 55gr. Generally 1.5-2" groups at 220 yards. Im happy with that.

Today's price is .70 to .80 cpr unfortunately for those who did not buy X-tac 55 gr. (or any target grade .223/5.56) before this election-riots-BS covid pandemic madness. Thankfully I have several boxes purchased during the Trump slump!

Bought the upper several years ago. Maybe I got lucky but with 55gr VMax mine is a tack driver. Lower is a PSA with a velocity trigger.

I would have bit if they put a 23” handguard lol

For when you need an AR that weighs as much as a Ma deuce.

I still have mine, but I primarily shoot (an even heavier) bolt action 223 now.

I do admit, the 'Predator' is a bit 'job specific',,, I don't believe it ever was intended to be a 'do it all' AR, a Home Defense device, or even a pimped out gadget-laden 'tacticool',,, It's purely a 'Bench/prone/ take your time/ reach out and touch someone' kinda thing offered at a reasonable price.

Too heavy for me and I discovered I'd rather shoot from the shoulder than a bench. I'm selling mine if anyone is interested: http://www.gunbroker.com/item/722877561...

Still have it?

If this had a rail system on it, the whole thing would look much better. Too ugly right now

I️ bought one of these last year. For about $175 more than this price....good gun. More accurate than I am. Better buy a bipod because it’s a heavy beast.

I agree, I paid 400 for the complete upper a while back. It would cost me about 140 to put together a complete similar lower.

Looks great for $513 & read the comments on the SG site.

I'm (still) happy with mine. Don't use it as much now as I've moved on from AR's. If you're looking for a heavy/long barrel 556, this one should be on your short list.

God aweful handguard. Pickup the 19 inch Midwest industries handguard from Dvor when they are on sale on this would be a whole new rifle.

Handguard!?!?!

What handguard???

That funny looking silver thing sticking out of the front of the weapon is what caught my eye!

LOL!!!.

Is the barrel threaded for muzzle brake?

Target crown, no threading.

As heavy and as long as this 556 is, it would not benefit from a brake the 'as much as' a shorter/lighter 556 might.

Good point...

Hmmm pretty cool setup but I can't get past how ugly it is. Maybe swapping hand guard would help immensely....

Unclear, but one report indicates the floating hand guard is loctite'ed on big time and took some real effort to remove,,,,, Not planning or replacing mine anytime soon so not a concern to me.,,

Looks like they do put permanent Loctite on the hand guard. According to one of their armorers in this video, you should be able to remove it fairly easily. Heating it with a hair dryer can help if it gets stuck: https://youtu.be/SYME1L3-IRA?t=118...

Judging by the bottle, it looks like they use Vibra-Tite, just in case you are curious. https://www.vibra-tite.com/product-category/threadlockers/...

That makes this much more attractive, litterly... Not that looks matter but most do take pride in having a good looking AR. A new 15' hand guard and cmc or giessle trigger would do wonders for this setup and your still under 900 if you know where to go. Cool AR regardless. I'm a bit of snob I guess. Doing the same think with a few AR's right now. Ones in shop getting a custom Cerakote and waiting on NFA for other with pinned suppressor. I also have my eye on a Dpms 308 that just showed up on here. Add a low gas block swap out the hand guard upgrade the stock and it becomes super sexy. Love me some AR's but have got to stop buying them. Man seems like there is always something to buy;). Addicting... I may keep an eye on this one for down the road but I rarely shoot from bench or bi-pod so not sure how much this would get used. Thanks for info on this as it is fairly unique.

Maybe this would be more to your liking. Same barrel,,,

Bench shooting is a big part of my routine. This barrel / free-float combination provides the function I'm looking for at a great price. I certainly wouldn't want to play 'urban warfare' games with this set up as it's waaaaay too heavy/cumbersome. I have other AR's more suited to that role.. ..

$649.99 cash, $669.49 CC F/S at Kentucky Gun Co.

Non-Magpul version is about $20 cheaper.

I just got this rifle put together today. The lower shipped to my FFL, and the upper shipped to me. Everything looks gtg. The barrel is nice, but of course it's heavy. I've put a PA 5x prism scope on it, and I'm planning to sight it in and see what kind of groups I can get at 100 yards this week. I'll try to remember to post an update.

The upper's $438.13 directly from Anderson: http://www.andersonrifles.com/product/24-stainless-steel-barrerled-complete-upper-with-bcg-and-charging-handle/...
A Mapgpul complete lower's: $201.18 http://www.andersonrifles.com/product/magpul-complete-assembled-lower-tan/...

Through June 19th, use code Dad2016 for 10% off and free shipping. One time use, must be logged in. Total's $575.38 shipped. The upper itself is $394.32 shipped.

I ordered one with a 15% off code on Memorial Day for $385.15 shipped and it looks really nice. Haven't fired it yet, though.

I found the upper for $399 and got Sportsman's Guide to price match and used the free shipping coupon "BRADSHIP". $45 for a stripped Anderson Lower. $90 PSA LBK. (The lower and build kit are out the door prices from my local gun shop) My total build was $535.
Took it to the range yesterday and shot some American Eagle 5.56 55gr. Shot 1" groups at 100 yards. I suspect after break in and with some better ammo the groups should tighten up. Wanted to ad that this upper functioned great with zero failures. Can't beat the price for a 24" stainless fluted upper. Also the free float tube has a threaded hole in the front for a swivel stud if you wanted to add a bi-pod and/or sling.

Here's the link for the $399 price on the upper.

Great inexpensive rig here. Would be a good candidate for the Magpul PRS stock.

You could use a Plum Crazy Complete lower ($109.99) from classicfirearms.com and the separate anderson 24 in upper ($494.99) from Sportsmans Guide to make a complete rifle for $604.98 + shipping from classic.

Don't do that though. This specified deal is better since the Anderson lower is better (forged aluminium vs the Polymer Plum Crazy,) and because of the improved Magpul stock and grip on this one (Plum Crazy does not have these.)

I went the separate upper route since I had an unused lower already.

I got the upper today. The finish is excellent! Very tight fit to my lower. No range experience yet.

Got mine today - took it to the range and ran 20 rounds through it. Very impressed! The guys working there were impressed too, and they see ARs all the time.

Is this model RF85 treated? Also, is this a SG exclusive? I can't find this rifle or reviews for this rifle anywhere.

From the Q&A section at SG........

Q: Does this rifle have the RF 85 treatment?

A: No, this does not have the RF 85 treatment.
