Better deal for the bear creek version on 1800gunsandammo.com
Code:GNA15
$54 Shipped.

Nah still cheaper than prebuilt.
Barrel. 67
Stripped upper. 40
Anderson BCG. 63
Free float handguards. 23
Gas tube. 9
Gas block. 15
A2 flash hider. 9
That's 226 bucks total for a complete upper with 10" keymod handguards. Totally possible to hit sub 350 dollars for a decent ar15
Hey just wondering where to buy the BCG for $40? Thanks.
Price is great. Still if you're doing an ultra budget build, hard to assemble for less than the price of a PSA upper.
I haven't seen a better price for a budget build recently....
The good, bad, and the ugly
The good: COST. great price for a barrel especially if you're looking for something to go plinking (which it is intended for) I don't think this will be the best barrel BUT anderson has a good reputation and I'm using an anderson upper so this should seat well.
The bad: Not a fan of the carbine gas but it wasn't a deal killer
The ugly: The barrel appears to be a phosphate finish instead of a nitride, so it wont look as "pretty" as compared to other barrels. ALL that said I look forward to this and having some fun.
I love Anderson. This is a good price, but the "bad" is 4140 instead of 4150 and no chrome lining. I like middys, too, but carbine is fine.
As you said, it's not nitrided, but if you buy a couple of them, you could probably send them off to be nitrided at a decent price :).
Ok, changed my original post and bought two. Shipping is the same for two barrels.
That's enough for me to pick a couple up. 132 bucks shipped isn't too bad. Wish these were QPQ instead of parkerized, but for a budget build, they seem fine. The only downer is they use a carbine length gas system, but I can deal with that for a cheap beater gun.
Everything I've read says the barrels should last about 8-10k rounds before they're shot out, so I'll have an inexpensive spare, for a total cost of less than one cheap chrome lined barrel.
8 bucks shipping. Puts this in the "meh" category for me.
Last year I picked up 4 b-tac 16" middies from Brownells that were 4150cmv and QPQ nitride finish. 60 bucks shipped to my door each. I'll wait.
This barrel shoots surprisingly well, I am getting solid 2" groups at 100 yards using a 4x optic using freedom xm193 free floated upper, I am sure if I put a better optic on it that group would shrink a little. I havent tried heavier loads yet, Tula steel case 55gr works perfectly fine out of it, no issues with rough chamber or extraction, i plan to put some 77gr SMK and 75gr tula hp through it, will update on results
