For what it is worth I use this rifle on patrol . I have a few upgrade to it . We have to provide our own ar at work on duty . This is a great option bang for your buck .

I'm surprised any security company (I imagine that is what you do) would not provide you with a weapon if required.

Seems like they'd provide a weapon, too bad they don't but at least you get to take care of your own stuff. I had a couple friends who worked at the local nuclear power plant and all security guards shared the same AR's, none were assigned to anyone, and NO ONE cleaned or took care of them. "Range day" was more like "lets find the one rifle that will cycle an entire mag day."

Those guys sound like idiots. Not hard to clean an AR-15 but it is easy to die from a jam if you can’t shoot back. They probably don’t care though cause they know they aren’t ever gonna have to defend shit.

The guards all had the mindset of "if they aren't going to clean it, then why should I?" Stupid and shortsighted but that is the American way.

Granted this rifle last year could be had for around $500 but since the whole "panic buying" mess, this is still a reasonable price. What these people " panic buying doesnt understand is any new laws or restrictions are gonna take a long time as they get caugght up in court litigations, have to go thru the house and senate, etc etc and so on. Then you also have "state laws" that must go thru the same processes. Its not like we are gonna wake up one morning and poof, all the gun rights are void... people just need to relax a bit. Instead of opanic buying, use that energy to help the fight in court by pro 2nd amendment groups seeking to protect our rights.

Appreciate the feedback. Price aside (within reason, let’s say up to $1200-1300)...is this a good AR to buy? Or is there another you’d recommend? I was considering this or radical arms (or waiting on something else) https://gun.deals/search/apachesolr_search/FR16556SOC15FCR...

The Radical looks like more bang for the buck, but Anderson is a known manufacturer of AR components with a good reputation. Others below are recommending the Ruger MPR. Terrific rifle (I have an 18" barrel model), but a way inflated price these days. Now as for an AR15 as a home defense weapon? Seems like overkill. Too much firepower and hard to maneuver in a small space, too hard to hide next to your bed. On the upside, you'll know where it's pointed. Shotgun or pistol would be my choices.

If you want something one step up from this I’d try and find a Ruger MPR. It’s a great rifle with a number of upgrades that are all worth the money at under $1,000. If you are trying to get the most for your money then I would stick with Anderson or PSA

Just did a quick search & it is in stock right now. Go 16 or 18”? For my intended use (home defense) I’m leaning toward 16 but shit same price for bigger gun who goes smaller https://gunprime.com/products/ruger-ar-556-mpr-5-56mm-semi-automatic-multi-purpose-rifle-8515...

Either barrel length would be fine. If you plan on using it home defense 16” is probably the best but 18” will give a few extra fps. I’d say 16” is the standard but 18” will help you out a little at farther ranges

Cool thanks. I guess only 18” is in stock now. I mean, I could wait but Biden’s got me on the ropes. So I gotta ask are you sure I should go Ruger over this Radical? https://gun.deals/external-link?url=https%3A%2F%2Fgun.deals%2Fsearch%2Fapachesolr_search%2FFR16556SOC15FCR...
Price difference doesn’t matter to me but I would like to put a red dot and maybe suppressor on.

Yes, ruger is Definitely better than radical fire arms. I don’t think anyone one of here will dispute that. Ruger is a name brand and that rifle is good even for them. I don’t know anything about radical but but Ruger is a great company with high quality products

agree, if price isnt too big of an issue but still want a budget rifle Ruger is a solid choice. Another on to try is the Springfield Armory "Saint" line.
