rebates suck, I get better deals from targetsportsusa.com no tax and no shipping for orders of 1000 rds. If it's not a instant rebate I don't waste my time, just move on.
You’re not finding anything at 22 cents a round at targetsports unless you’re looking at tula. And rebates rock... I dont mind waiting for some cash back when i’m getting brass at a steel price point. I just bought 1500 rounds from palmetto at 21.6 cents a round for brass!
Its not exactly 22cents a round after taxes. This rebate is retarded. I just found out about it, and Ive purchased over 1k rounds at retail in the last 2 weeks, but there is no way I can find the receipts...I shot it up and threw away the trash at the range. The rebates should be instant or advertised at retail. Ill just purchase Remington and Winchester until the rebate is over so I don't get FOMO. On a good note I have not had a problem with steel 223 from Tulammo.
When comparison shopping you always better check shipping and tax. Some charge and some don't and it can make quite a bit of difference.
Even with 6% tax from palmetto for PA it’s still 23c a round for brass after the rebate... you can’t beat that elsewhere. If so, post a link :-)
I ordered 5 boxes and they came beat up. They re label the factory cardboard case without extra protection. Not really made to ship like that unless the carrier takes care, but they never do. 3 of the 5 plastic containers were shattered and some rounds banged up. I wrote them and they never responded. Not good.
I did get to speak with a PSA rep finally after calling many times and waiting a while. They did apply a credit for the damaged items without hassle. After looking online it appears Federal does sell different grade ammo that does not meet government QA standards. I guess this is some of it. After going through all the rounds I came to find 80% +++ are dinged, dented and beat up. Seems that many get it this way but they go bang. A few will not make it in my guns since they are so bad I cant see them cycling correctly and many are questionable but lets see. This was my first purchase of bulk ammo and Federal XM855 so maybe I just need to get use to this being business as usual.
I bought from Brownells and mine came inside a big box with padding inside
I know it goes bang, used the 55gr stuff of the same packaging the whole time at Front Sight. As for smashed and dinged up, I ordered 12 of these with this deal. None of them are smashed. The box I opened had nothing but decently clean (not counting annealing) and undinged rounds. We got dinged rounds in the army, it's a nonissue.
What this stuff might be... factory seconds. Most of what that means, rounds get pulled off the line if the inspector sees something wrong with it. Also, they pick handfuls of it up to inspect, and even though they wear gloves, it can't go back on the belt. This could be that.
$0.33/rd shipped aint bad for 62gr M855 (yes it's the 'X' version and this ammo won't group like match ammo but it goes bang and never hurts to have around). I'll probably grab 5 boxes since that gives free shipping.
If purchasing these boxes be aware they very well may be short on ammo. I have bought over 10 of them over the past couple years and they all have been short between 1,2, or 3 rounds. Never had one at full 120 rounds.
