These phucks can lick my sack! Was looking yesterday and they had Sig Vcrown JHP 9mm for $42-43 per 20 round box! I just paid $14.99 from bass pro last Thursday! I had been seeing the high prices on 223/556 ammo but they had it in stock where other places didn't. We had a good run PSA but you have went the way of CTD with me and I will not be back. So to all the folks talking the supply and demand, can save it. This is price gouging at its finest! I'm not saying there will be stock piles of ammo on shelves any time soon but if you search it's easly found at fair prices.

Upped the price from $579.99 to $599.99, but lubricated the deal by adding Free Shipping. Does that make anyone feel better???

lol what are you all first time gun owners at this??? I can spot you a mile away. Welcome to the shooting sports. this is nothing like 2013. in 2013 glocks were selling for $1700 on gunbroker, $500 palmetto ar15 were selling for $1800 on GB .22lr bricks were selling for $130 on gunbroker. one magpul 30rnd mag was selling for $90. reloading sector was completely decimated. no components, no reloading presses not even a reloading bench lol.

Good luck with that

I think a lot of this has to with the Neckbeards on Gunbroker. If Palmetto priced it at lets say $399, the Neckbeards would buy it up and sell it for twice that. So Palmetto mine as well get what they can because those guys on Gunbroker would sell it for at least the amount that Palmetto is. I just looked on Gunbroker. 1000 round box of Federal 5.56. Current bid is $603. There are 26 bids. People are willing to pay whatever. Fools. Look for yourself. Same thing happened with 22 in 2013.

Saw they're managing to sell steel wolf and tula for $450+, if that's not a sign things are fucked I don't know what is.

Now they have upped the price to $579.99. Check this out. The title of PSA's bullshit mission statement is: "FREEDOM OVER PROFIT." This is an excerpt from their statement. OUR MISSION IS TO MAXIMIZE FREEDOM, NOT OUR PROFITS. WE WANT TO SELL AS MANY AR-15 AND AK-47 RIFLES AS WE CAN AND PUT THEM INTO COMMON USE IN AMERICA TODAY. OUR FOCUS ISN'T TO MAKE MASSIVE AMOUNTS OF MONEY BUT TO SPREAD FREEDOM AS FAR AND WIDE AS POSSIBLE. In my world, actions speak louder than words, so I'll do my shopping elsewhere.

Thought I saw this in the 400+ range a few days ago at Palmetto? So an extra $100 because of why since this was already in your warehouse?

It's technically in the middle of the current available price range. I've found only 3 other retailers that say are saying that they have "in stock", one for $500 and two for $600.

Fuck that I gave my money to Dillon instead I'll roll my own and I haven't had issues sourcing components locally at reasonable prices. There's a lot of talk about price gouging and not price gouging and economics. Sorry if your doubling the price of something during a pandemic your taking advantage of a situation. Personally I just choose not to spend my money with companies that do it in an obvious fashion. At this price my press will pay for itself in roughly 4000 rounds I'll break even here shortly.

I don't know if PSA has warehouses full of ammo, and is actually price gouging. But it's worth noting that ammo is on backorder to distributers as far out as Sept. - Nov.

One thing being overlooked about the price of ammo going up (other than the laws of supply and demand) is that a lot of people are assuming gouging - and not companies trying to offset having NO inventory coming in, hard-to-impossible to source raw materials, and no other product types to offer (i.e. - camping gear) in the coming months.

Every online retailer, LGS & big box store didn't concurrently decide to gouge as much as they're just trying to keep their company open, knowing inventory is almost gone and they won't have sales for months to come.

This is not speculation, read any investor trade rag about the firearm/ammo industry for yourself. Again, who knows PSA's actual inventory or situation, but that's the economics of what is happening to the firearms industry. If upstream supply chains don't stabilize, say goodbye to your mom & pop manufacturers, nevermind your LGS.

When people price gouge in any other market, people get outraged. When ammo suppliers do it, the gun community make excuses for them, or say it's the free market, why? When a bill like banning online ammo sales comes up, the same companies gouging you right now, will be the companies wanting us to call our representatives and urge them not to pass it, saying we must stick together. I am old enough to know to stock up when it's cheap, but all the new people to firearms are getting screwed, stop pretending these companies aren't gouging pricks.

You're right on all counts. My LGS is still regularly getting pallets of everything except 9mm, but they will be getting hundreds of thousands/million rounds in a week. Thier prices only went up 5 cents a round, to .23 cents. They don't gouge on anything ever, so I know these prices are driven by sellers. The materials issue is BS as far as I'm concerned, there should be more raw materials due to economic slowdowns in factories.

YES! You are so right about this. This BS about a giant run on ammo... I'm tired of being lied to. I'm even more tired of fear mongering retailers using our communities worst fears to gin up support for jacking up their sales costs by 100s of percent. It's not just ammo either. 2 months ago you could buy a Sig Romeo 5 for $99. Now they're running between $150-200. Is there a huge run on Romeo 5s? Anderson Lowers have doubled in price in less than 3 months time. Are noob owners deciding to build an AR immediately after buying that first Taurus pistol? It's nuts and my fellow 2A supporters are making nonsensical excuses for these retailers who are engaged in wholesale fear profiteering.

What a bunch of greedy price gougers. Few months back these were $299.00 per box of 1000 round now $549.99 up $250.99 more.

it's the free market DUDE.....you had the last the 3 years before the Chinese communist virus came and destroyed the entire world to buy ammo the cheapest its been in 15 years. Now its the most expensive its ever been and will continue to go up in price unless president Trump is reelected. THATS A GUARANTEED FACT Sir.
Just keeping it real. Not criticizing you, just letting you know what the future holds if those insane socialist lunatics are elected.
.223 will go up to 1000.00 dollars a case for commercial grade ammo and UP!

This run up in prices for all things 2A related has nothing whatever to do with free market economics. This isn't a supply and demand issue. It's nothing more than greedy retailers doing their best to profit from the 2A community's fears RE: dems, covid, BLM, riots, etc. Are you seriously saying that there is a run on Anderson Lowers and Sig optics and that's why these retailers have jacked up the prices of these items 75-150%? Or maybe there's a ton of noob gun owners who have decided they need chassis for the Remington 700s that they don't own? No way. This is just plain greed at our expense. Hell, even the crappy retailers are in on the action with Omega charging $40 for the AR charging handles that were $15 last month. We're getting hosed by the very industry that depends on us for its survival.

It has everything to do with supply and demand. The biggest run on guns and ammunition in American history equals high prices. Anyone who doesn't see that is delusional. We had 3 good years to load up on anything we wanted with some of the lowest prices on firearms I've seen. Everyone's thinking survival at this point. Most of the LGS I go to are cleaned out. How you get prices to come down, slow demand, don't buy, then the market corrects.

Greedy Retailers? LMFAO! Were they greedy when it was 279 per case shipped? Cmon people. GROW THE HELL UP. This is not about greed. You said it yourself. If you cannot see the reality of the circumstances and you want to blame "GREEDY RETAILERS" then you have a very low I.Q.
Just KEEPING IT REAL. You think its EXPENSIVE NOW? WAIT TILL CREEPY CREEEPY JOE BIDEN GETS ELECTED. THEN YOU'RE NOT ONLY GOING TO BE dealing with "greedy retailers" but your also going to be dealing with STATISTS that are going to deny your second amendment rights.
Good luck folks. With this kind of thinking you're going to need it.

So during the lock down while everyone was sitting at home using more electricity, you would have been ok with the power company raising your rates over a 100%? What if grocery stores raised all their prices 100%? Or how about if there are no homes for sale in your area they raise your property taxes over 100%. You are the one following blindly along with a very low IQ, making excuses for ammo suppliers like the gun community always does.

0 votes
0 votes

Ha, my electric provider tried petitioning the state to raise rates because of loss of revenue due to businesses not using electricity. They failed. Grocery stores had the biggest rate hike since the 70's. WTF does low home turnover have to do with an increase in property taxes? For someone that's trying to call people low IQ you got an awful lot of bullshit straw men you're trying to prop your argument up with. And know nothing about economics.

Why did the state fight it? Oh, they didn’t want them to price gouge. Lol, your so stupid you made my point and didn’t even know it. The second amendment has less support than ever and if new people can’t come into shooting because of price gougers and idiots like you that defend it, soon there will be no support left. But hey, don’t let the big picture get in the way of your stupidity, you seem committed to it.

0 votes
0 votes

It was the complete opposite of supply and demand, dumbass. Try to keep up.

Part of the problem is that too many "new people" came into shooting at the same time. July saw a 140% yoy increase in background checks, highest numbers in history, and 40% of those were new shooters. Since they started record keeping in 1998, there has only been 1 month(Dec '15) that had a higher nics check than the rona Dec-May period. I get that you want cheap ammo at all times, but that's just not how this works. Please find a fucking econ textbook and try to get informed on actual commerce trends. That is if you are actually able to read.

Lol, if it’s in short supply then why is there an unlimited supply at gouge prices? If your for gouging just say so, but don’t make excuses for it. Did you read the other comment where it is 349 elsewhere. Does that tell you anything at all about the price here? Maybe the other place just wants to lose $200 a case, that would make sense. Keep swallowing sheep, I choose not too.

I read it, went looking for it, found no such thing available on Bass Pro's site. I've asked since the beginning tor anyone to post where it's available, shipping now, for pre rona prices. Not a single fucking link. I've found a total of 4 "gouger" vendors that had this "in stock"; one listed 62 cases available, one had 45, one had 6, the other didn't list. Didn't find a single one lower than $500. So much for an unlimited supply. If there wasn't a supply issue, why the fuck doesn't the AE manufacturer keep the other vendors stocked? That'd be a really dumb financial move on Federal. Unless of course the certain "gouger" vendors are offering more per pallet than their competitors. Keep being a moron that doesn't understand supply and demand, left that road behind long ago.

Can’t argue with simple minded people
Google “ammo shortage 2020” and you’ll get about a thousand hits telling why there’s no ammo at cheap prices.
Not the first time we’ve had big runs on ammo.

You've had plenty of time to show a single instance of actual regular surplus, but can't. Some goober that chimes in that he bought some from his local, is not equivalent to it being readily available. You seem to want to believe that PSA has unlimited resources of ammo, but have nothing to back it up. Then you wanna call me sheeple... there's some stupid that can't be fixed.

Your right, anyone that thinks raising their prices $269 isn’t gouging is beyond stupid.

Retailers that have the stock, get to dictate price. When very few hold the stock, market rates rise. This is called capitalism, you're welcome for the introduction. It sure seems like you want someone, say maybe the government, to step in and set prices. Well, this is not Venezuela and we don't practice communism here. You're welcome to head down there and see how well it's working.

So you're telling me you have a source for plentiful ammo at pre rona prices? Cause if not, fuck right off with that "thIS iSn'T a sUPpLy anD deMaND iSSuE" bullshit. .223/.556, 300blk, 9mm, and .40 have been barren from shelves for months now, and we're not even close to a point of equilibrium. Even the reloading sectors been hit, and that almost never happens. Businesses have one objective, make money, telling them to not take advantage of a highly profitable situation is the worst advice ever. They may have lost "loyal customers" due to their "gouging", but it sure seems like they found plenty of other people to take their place.

Wow, there are a lot of children on this website that feel entitled to LOW PRICES LMFAO. The rationales stated here that greedy retailers are the blame is LAUGHABLE. Does anyone here have an type of real world education? If the #CCPVIRUS ended today and the rioting ended today it would take YEARS TO REBUILD THE STOCKS WE HAD IN 2019. How do I know? Because I was an olympic competitor and semi-professional shooter for the last 20 years. I've seen it a lot. I've never seen any kind of rush on guns and ammo like I have since this Chinese communist virus started.

It's pretty obvious that they've never been close to an economics text book. The arms industry never seemed like it was ever built in a way that could deal with majorly excessive demand. Yearly growth and some surplus yes, but a continued 2-3x yoy demand spike would be out of their wheel house. It's not something that was ever expected, so why would they spend for the extra infrastructure in place to try and handle it? Especially with the "Trump effect" causing a slump in sales prior to all this, and now an emerging likelihood of a Biden win. God I hope that doesn't happen, motherfucker's trying to add AR's to the NFA.

Dumbest argument ever: do don't buy it if it's too much because they don't need you because they've got new customers. Congratulations and "fuck right off with that '"thIS iSn'T a sUPpLy anD deMaND iSSuE" bullshit" bullshit. Using Academy's empty shelves to support your irrational belief that there's a run on ammo that justifies PSA jacking it's ammo costs 100% plus is just silly. Academy, Cabelas, Bass Pro, etc. suck balls and their shelves are bare of useable ammo 365 days a year. There is nothing new here. Meanwhile, my choice of online retailers and my LGS were stocked just fine till a few of the massive retailers went on an ammo buying spree.

So here is you arguing in favor of price gouging! Specfuckingtacular. If I treated my customers the way the majority of 2A retailers are treating us I'd be out of business in 6 months. Assuming, for the sake of argument, that your short supply of ammo thing is true (which I dispute at least in part), it still doesn't excuse the run up on every other piece of gear related to firearms. Optics, component parts of most weapons systems (e.g. AR/AK, .22LR, precision rifle, magazines, etc.), tactical gear, armor, and SHTF supplies have jumped in price by 50-200% and in some cases much more (Cheaper Than Dirt and Tactical Shit we're looking at you). Are you suggesting that every single thing 2A related has a had a run on it? It's pure nonsense.

These businesses beg us to be politically active and to lobby hard for their right to exist. They beg us to write letters and make telephone calls to our elected officials to help expand the scope of their business. And we do so willingly to support the rights we believe in. In exchange these same retailers rape us on pricing every time there is arguably anything scary going on in the world. They gin up boogeymen, whether real or imagined, to rile us into a buying frenzy. A fool and his money are soon parted. I'll keep my dough till these fuckers come to their senses.

Love how you can't be bothered to come up with a single retailer that is currently shipping pre rona ammo in a timely fashion. That totally means there is no supply issue. My local cabelas, as well as every m&p LGS has been empty of anything of worth while since early April; plenty of creedmore, hornet, and shotgun shells. Can't even order new 300blk brass under $.85 from midway, natches is literally out of bullets, and I can't find a .223 case length gauge in stock that's not double the price. Hasn't. Ever. Happened. Before. That should pretty well tell you things aren't normal.

Sure, places raise prices in election years, but we've yet to have that and a true pandemic, not to mention continuous fucking rioting. Pretending that prices should have stabilized by now, is completely idiotic. June broke the record for back ground checks, and we've already surpassed any cumulative year numbers prior to 2012. I don't believe that all products are out of stock, but all of those newly acquired firearms will need accessories, and retailers are testing what people are willing to pay in a time of perceived or actual crisis. It's simple economics. Are you mad at grocery stores that saw the biggest price spike since the 70's in April? Or are you just part of the proletariat that thinks the workers should own the means of production, with price restrictions dictated by the great leader?

I've got a great idea, why don't you quit bitching on the internet, and start an arms company selling items at lower prices than anyone else, then corner the fucking market. Show us how it's really done .Oh, you're not not going to do that? No surprise here. You're certainly also welcome to post better deals, that would certainly be a better use of everyone's time.

Get your case length gauge straight from Dillon, they NEVER do fake markups.

My LGS is Joe Bobs and while they are not selling 223/556 or 9mm online there is a shit ton on the shelves at NORMAL pricing.
They never were the cheapest but they never marked shit up.....because wangchung virus.

Thanks, but I'm looking for a trim gauge, managed to get it from one of the lgs' orders today. They're not gougers, but they also out of most everything. Guy walks in today looking for something in a 22lr, owner point to the 5 guns on the shelf, "That's what left. Can't tell you when I'm gonna get more. Whole industry's about to shit the bed. People are just buying what they can get their hands on". He was relaying the exact scenario "dmaic" says above. Just cut store hours cause they simply don't have the stock and customers know it.

Your local is Joe Bobs, lucky mf'er.

I know to avoid buying ammo at "normal" prices during an election cycle, but when was the last time we were on a near nation wide lock down? With riots that mayors don't want to quell? That's some unprecedented shit. Saw the writing on the wall early and started scrounging reloading supplies early April. Seemed like a good thing to do given the idol time.

I started stocking up during the LA riots in what...90's something, 91-92 ?
Was a wrench at the time and the guy that worked in the stall next to mine at Long Beach Toyota was shot and killed due to the unfortunate fact he was born white (you can google it his name was Matt Haines).
I had my AC556 and was on the roof and everyone in the neighborhood was saying they'd be happy to reload mags for me.
In those days a 1k case of 556 was right at 100 bones...like 97.99 or 98.99, something like that.
Shit was real then too you just didn't have it in your face because you probably weren't in SoCal.
Probably a good thing I don't live in Portland, homie ain't too soft around the edges and I pull a mean trigger.

Sorry about your buddy, that's some full on racist bullshit. It's amazing that 2 years latter politicians passed the AWB, if there ever was a NEED for an AR it's protection against a riot. Ohh, wait, they were protected by private security that probably had NFA guns. Life's so hard in the ivory tower. Shit goes down and I'm self identifying as a roof korean.

Guys, look around at what's available. You don't realize that we are in the midst of the biggest run on ammo in American history. People are terrified that Biden and his socialist agenda are going to be elected along with this bullshit corona virus. TRUST me if you think its expensive now, you had better make sure that you and all of your friends reelect president trump because you will never see .223 /5.56 ammo again for under 1000.00 dollars a case if Corrupt senile Biden is in the White House with raul Beto Garcia Rodriguez omally O'rourke as his gun czar.....

"[T]he biggest run on ammo in American history?" Hyperbole much? There is plenty of ammo available if you're willing to get assraped by the retailer. For example, I can buy as much 5.56 as I want from PSA so long as I'm willing to pay $0.50 per round plus shipping plus tax. Same with .308 and 6.5c and .300blk and 9mm and .40S&W and .45 ACP and .357 mag, etc. And it's not just PSA, all of the big retailers are sitting on literally tons of ammo and they'll sell you as much as you want so long as your willing to pay a panic premium price. Such spastic fear mongering. Don't be afraid; with Trump's SCOTUS picks the 2A is safe for the next 30-40 years.
