I want to try one but it looks too big. I'm 5'11 and this thing looks huge. Scouting back in the 80's I remember being properly fitted for my first legit hiking pack. It was a Himalayan. I was so proud of that thing.

Anyway, doesn't matter how economical one is, if the plan is to do any real hiking and it doesn't fit right, it'll make you absolutely fockin miserable.

One of the detail pix shows the shoulder harness can be adjusted for height, so midgets can wear it & just have it stick up higher over their head. Good job, A-zon!

Just received it from Amazon. An absolutely stunning deal for $40. Decent construction, lightweight for 4500 cubic inches of storage. Internal frame seems to be able to hold a fair amount of weight from initial testing. Excited to put it to use as the weather is improving. Has every adjustment you could want. Shoulder straps are adjustable using a great and current system, has every strap and buckle needed to secure the pack to your back comfortably for long hauls.

I bought a similar sized & configured mountaineering pack [that's what those internal-frame packs were called back then] in the late '80s, on closeout, and spent easily twice as much [and our FRNs were worth 2x what today's are!] This is an absolutely smoking deal...

I bought one a while back, great construction, everything is double stitched and well made. Not the most comfortable pack, I have about 40lbs in mine but it feels like much more. Good for a truck pack or bug out bag but not for long hunts or hikes.

Can you please explain the "internal frame"? Is it a metal frame, or just thick seams?

Usually a rigid plastic plate sewn in to create sturdiness

Thick seams and padding that give rigidity to the pack.
