There are plenty of optics on the market that perform just as well as an Aimpoint... so long as you don't put them through any real use.

Are these less expensive offerings as durable? Well, people too cheap to spend the dough for an aimpoint are almost certainly too cheap to potentially destroy their less expensive optic by finding out whether or not it's as durable, so we may never know. What we can know, however, is that Aimpoints/Trijicons/Eotecs/etc are the real deal and can actually survive real use.

Plenty of videos online of people stress testing "lesser" optics. They preform just as well. MAGA

Yeah, but also remember that when you buy a Trijicon optic you're just buying one whereas when the government buys trijicons they buy thousands at a time. I'd expect to get a much better deal buying in large bulk quantities compared to just buying one.

You're damn right it is. I bought this about a year ago (maybe less) and could not regret it more. Expensive way to learn not to listen to the "influencers" on YouTube.

This optic is quintessential firearms industry marketing deparment fear mongering.

Not a matter of the ability to afford it or not . It’s a matter of if it’s actually worth that value. For me, I say no . There are plenty of other comparable options that perform just as well coming in at nearly 1/2 the price

Bought a DI FC1 for $299 shipped and it is equal in performance to the Aimpoint.

Or you want the same thing that you counted on when you were in theatre. Same with Trijicons. Back in the 80s, you could get a Beretta for a couple hundred. When they won the DOD contract, they went to $450 overnight. Aimpoints and Trijicons are literally battle tested and they excel in performance. Couple that with defense contracts and you get a high sticker price. I'm a Vortex guy, but I don't bash something just because I can't afford it.

Trijicon's military contract per unit price is about half of retail. Then there are those retail units. Trijicon requires a minimum sale price for their products that essentially helps maintain a specific profit margin.

Just because people bash something that doesn't mean they can't afford it either. In fact, the military doesn't even use these particular Aimpoints.
