I bought one of these blems from buds as the AR ban was just tapering off. I paid 599.00. I didn't even really handle it much at the FFL when I signed for it. I just looked it over for scratches and what not. A few months later when spring came, I unpacked it to take it to the range and noticed nearly 1/16+" gap between the lower and upper(I CAN PASS 3 BUSINESS CARDS STACKED THROUGH THE GAP FROM ABOVE THE MAGWELL ALL THE WAY BACK TO THE BOLT ASSIST) and you can rock the lower (twist) back and forth SIDE TO SIDE a good 1/4" at The pistol grip. VERY SLOPPY BUILD. Seems like the pins are over bored along with the lower spaced so far from the upper. Tolerances are WAY out on mine. JUST LOOK AND LOOK AND FEEL BEFORE YOU ACCEPT THIS FROM BUDS.

I'm a student on a tight budget, would you recommend this, a M&P 15, or Ruger's new AR-556?

Does having a piston gas system add any extra parts that would stop me from installing a replacement handguard? Something simple as the magpul MOE for example... Thanks

Adam arms has a list of compatible hand guards. FYI - the MOE midlengths fit beautifully on this rifle. I put then on and they are a big improvement over the stock ones that come with the rifle.

Handguards and rails do to have be compatible with the Adams Arms piston setup. Many rails will not work and normal 'handguards' must be either spec'd (like the newer Magpul handguards), or modified to work with the size and height of the gas block and piston.

Here is Adams Arms rail comparability list:

http://www.adamsarms.net/faq#qa1...

The newer Magpul Handguards will also work fine (I am using some on my Buds blem from this posting). Just make sure they are not the older version (as the spacing and hole for the normal gas tube is not big enough for the piston).

Bought two of them. One has "0" blemishes and the other has a small scratch along the left side of the barrel. They are basic rifles so you'll have to outfit to your taste which is most of the fun anyway. I'd buy now before some awful thing like Hillary Clinton being elected president comes to pass and drives prices back up beyond imagination.

Gotta say this was a great deal.

Took it out twice now and have put hundreds of rounds through it. Convinced another buddy of mine to get one and a couple more looking at it.

If you're on the fence about this, my suggestion would be to buy it while you can get a piston AR at this price....

I was gonna buy a few more for longer term investment before I decided to go with a couple of the $399.99 vz2008 because they came with all the accessories as well in the deal ( AIM was selling same thing for $499.99 a couple months back and people were buying that up, so same thing for $100 less hard to pass up, although I think still an amazing deal at $499.99)

Have been so impressed with the first one I received a couple of months ago that I just purchased another mid when they popped back in stock. Weapon looked new upon arrival and shoots great. $599 shipped is excellent for this piston AR.

Shoots great! I finally got out to shoot mine yesterday. I swapped some parts before firing, but the parts they included were decent. I got new Magpul Gray furniture and swapped on one of the $50 Spike's Dynacomps I got this month from Botach. I was pleasantly surprised how good the GI FCG was on this rifle, one of the best out of the box I have had. The mid length with the piston system worked great with the Wolf Gold .223 ammo, 200 rounds without a hiccup. Between the mid length and the Dynacomp the recoil was noticeably lighter than my other 16" mid length rifle with the BCM Mod 1 compensator. I added an Aimpoint PRO and a set of the Magpul Mbus Pro flip up sights.

As for the blemish, mine had a 1" scratch on the lower receiver (on the corner above the selector, and the finish on the barrel just behind the flash hider looks a little thin. Neither blemish affects the function.

Ordering from Buds was easy as always. I had the rifle in about 9 days.

Yeah, that stock and hand-guard are petty blah. I also did the magpul MOE handguard, and I went with the fixed carbine stock. You can get them from AIM Surplus with free shipping.

These make the rifle much nicer looking and just a lot more pleasant to handle as well. They feel a lot more solid than the crappy adjustable stock.

1st time ordering from Bud's...paid with an E-check and check out was painless....got the "cash" price and received my AA-15 within a week. Anyone worried about this deal DONT BE...for what you are getting it is literally unbeatable. My barrel was actually a voodoo barrel btw. I swapped out the handguard for a magpul handguard and threw a vortex sparc and some buis I had lying around..... Good to go.....the "blem" was tiny and close to the muzzle...took me a couple minutes to even find it...I wasn't even looking for another AR-15 but it was impossible to pass this up.....if you're bitching about this deal there is something wrong with you.

I ordered two of the Adams AR15s.
One of mine had a Voodoo barrel as well. The other one did not have any markings at all and had a rougher finish.

picked up my rifle. Slight cosmetic blem right below the flash hider. took it to the range Saturday. One hiccup on the first round of federal brass. after that it ran 40 rounds of federal brass, and 60 rounds of wolf with no issues. I'm happy.

I just ordered the carbine length for my first AR, will I regret not ordering the mid?

Nah... everyone says lighter recoil but I aint ever noticed. 223 dont have any recoil anyway. Its more about looks IMHO. Perhaps if u plan on using in match and need quicker follow up shots but if that is the case, I would get something with more of a "match" barrel. Carbine looks great to me.

Thanks, I was trying to get one ordered before they sold and chose carbine because all the other options I was looking at were carbine as well.

Oh.. also, the piston system is adjustable (I think)... Which I believe might make the gas length discussions not really applicable. Someone that knows more may chime in...

I picked up my two Adams ARs today as I have been out of town. Both look very nice but both do have minor cosmetic imperfections in the finish. AR 1 has minor finish issues on the lower , about 5-6 pin size marks where there is no black finish, and AR 2 has similar finish problems, about 7-8 pin size marks on the upper on this one. I should be able to touch up both so it should not be a big deal for the price. Otherwise they look great and seem to be GTG.
I took the hand guard off of both and inspected the barrel, to my surprise one of them is a VooDoo 1/7 5.56 laser marked barrel and the other has no markings at all. Both have the same profile but the VooDoo barrel definitely has a smoother finish on the outside of the barrel.
Anyone else get a VooDoo barrel?? Thoughts?

Mine arrived today. Stripped it down, cleaned and inspected it. No finish blems that I could find, inside or out. The only 'blem' that I can find is the dust cover door spring was not installed correctly. It just flops back and forth. Easy fix.

After the first range trip I thought I should update:

After having stripped and cleaned the new gun, I was finally able to get it to the range this weekend. First several short mags (10 shot mags for bench rest sighting) the rounds ejected, but it failed to cycle far enough to load a new round. After the 4th mag, I stripped again, added additional CLP to the carrier rails and bolt body. No improvement. However, after the 6th short mag it began cycling properly and ran the rest of the day without issue (about another 300 rounds).

Swapped out to a me-built lower with a CMC SS 3.5# trigger. Sighted just fine with a Troy flip-up front and MaTech ranging rear. Mounted a Trijicon RX34 and quickly sighted without issue. Accuracy and grouping were much better than I had anticipated.

Post-range clean up was, as anticipated, so much quicker and easier than cleaning up a DI AR.

I really only wanted it for the upper, but given the whole gun was cheaper than the upper by itself, I am very pleased (after the initial FTLs). I'll either use the lower on another project, or build it up to my preferences and remount at some point. This will definitely be going out to the range quite often.

Mine arrived on Friday. GTG. I inspected it, and it was flawless. The finish is not semi-gloss, but matte black. I also agree that the front hand guard is hideous. I bought the Fortis REV midlenght piston rail. It looks fantastic and it's extremely light for $219.

Damir, where did you pickup the Fortis Rev rail? Did you have to modify to get it to fit? Tia

F--k buds, CTD and other d-bags that jacked up their prices during 2013. As far as I'm concerned I wouldn't give them any of my money, sneaky snakes if you ask me.

Who cares about the lack of a mag. The gun is effin cheap. Mags cost, what, 10 bucks? Go take your crying to a daytime soap opera forum.

As is always the case we try and provide the best deals we possibly can for our customers. When we worked out the deal with the blemished Adams Arms it was understood that it may have finish blemishes (probably unrecognizable) and would ship with no mag. When our staff added it to our web site they had "30 RD" on the listing title in error. We removed it as soon as we found out about it and emailed our customers. We understand that it may have caused some confusion and apologize for the error.

Anyone who isn't happy with this deal, simply refuse the transfer. We'll pick the firearm up at our expense and provide a full refund.

We made a super deal for our customers, what is normally a $999 piston AR for $599! With minor finish blemishes and no mag, it's an amazing deal. We apologize for the discrepancy with the original listing title. But again, if you aren't happy with it please refuse the transfer, we'll pick it up and provide you a full refund.

If you have questions about this product or any product, run into any issue, please call in and ask for me, I'll be happy to assist.

Anyone have recommendations for new handguards?

I need to find some too. Mine has a gap between the top and bottom halves. The closer you get to the front of the gun the greater the gap between the two halves. You can squeeze the gap together but as soon as you let go it opens up again. Adams Arms website has a compatibility list.

Wow!! Very surprised at all the negative comments over this deal. Yes they did change to Buds VIP only to make more money (the early bird catches the worm), and yes they did make a mistake on the 30rd. mag misprint, but its still a great deal without a mag, and after paying the extra $30. Stop whinning....Buy it or go find a bottle of similac to keep you quiet.

2 votes

What's hilarious is your $30 "worm" is more like a 1 CENT worm.

So you avoided the forced $30 Team Bud's membership (nice move). Anyone who paid with a CC gave back 3% or about $18 of the $30 savings. Then you found out they sold you an AR without a magazine (who does this kind of thing anyway?) But they'll gladly sell you a 30 rnd Magpul right on the product page for $11.99...Making your "early bird savings" a mere 1 cent. Don't spend it all in one place...

1 vote

How was it forced? They holding a gun to your head and yelling at you to buy it? Did he buy it with is CC? Did he buy the magpul mag cuz he doesn't have extra ar mags at home? Would someone not buying it early not have to buy any of the things you mentioned? Why are you butt hurt about an offer you didn't even buy and say you don't even need but felt you had to post on here and continue to post on here about it?

Just sayin..........

Many on here would NORMALLY be calling Bud's out on:

DICK MOVE #1 - List an AR deal with a 30 rnd mag and then (after hundreds are ordered) instead of saying, "our mistake...BUT we'll throw in a free 30 rnd mag for anyone who already ordered", they say, "tough titty for miss kitty...the joke's on YOU!" and

DICK MOVE #2 - After a couple of days, they FORCE anyone who doesn't check this site every single day to JOIN TEAM BUD'S in order to purchase this *blemished* rifle...Really?

Seems strange to see so many tripping over themselves to defend a dealer with "normally" infuriating business practices like this. If you've frequented this site in the past year, then you know exactly what I'm talking about.

I don't support dealers that do business like this. If I decide I even WANT this gun, I'll buy it at GrabAGun. I'll pay $140 more than TEAM BUD'S...But hey, it comes with a 30 rnd mag, it's brand new and unblemished and I know if I have a problem, GAG will make it right because every transaction I've ever had with them has been PERFECT!

The REASON dealers pull dick moves like this is because people like you support them...But I'm the first to say it's your money and you can do what you like with it. BTW...You sure seem angry for someone who just banked a great deal on a great AR?!? I'm sure you have nothing to worry about...Yours won't be blemished at all.

Actually I don't give a damn about Buds at all. I just think people crying over a $10 mag on saving over $100 is freaking stupid as all hell. Then those same damn people feel they need to justify that crying with shit they make up and don't like. For example. Gun was on sale for good deal for 4 days to everyone at a decent price. They decided to make it VIP. So people cry cuz they missed out on the deal and start making up shit cuz they are all butt hurt about it. If you want more examples of crying look at the whole shipping, vip, insurance post by DanTampa.
I'm not defending the dealer, I'm just going against people crying over a good deal. Especially when they have no dog in fight.

btw I didn't order this gun, nor do I want it. I don't work for Buds, and am only defending them cuz people are crying to damn much on stupid shit.

There is nothing that I said that was not true...I bought the gun and you didn't so it would seem you are the one with no dog in the fight. So I doubt anyone really cares what you think about the way Bud's handled the mag issue.

You also have only been a member for about three weeks and a quick review of your posts indicated that most of them have been argumentative in nature.

You also indicated in one that you are from KY...hmmm where is Bud's located? Your posts imply that you are some type of self proclaimed guru on Bud's policies and yet you claim not to be an employee.

To those of us that have bought several dozens of guns online know Bud's is one of, if not the worse for nickel and diming their customers.

Most of my purchases lately have been from Grabagun because they have better than average prices, they charge no CC fees, and they don't require me join a paid membership to buy any gun and even though they have a stated flat rate shipping of $5.99 I have never paid shipping on any gun I have purchased from them.

Pointing out that Bud's plays games that others like Grabagun doesn't participate in...isn't crying it is sharing knowledge that allows for members here to make informed decisions with what they can expect from certain online retailers.

You remind me of a 5 year old that thinks he is making great points in a discussion for which he has no experience, while the adults in the room know he is simply full of crap.

Yeah I admit, most of my posts have been arguments. So what? If you read them then you'd see I'm doing the same thing there I am doing here. I'm calling out the cry babies who think they should get free stuff cuz they feel butt hurt about some made up injustice to them. So since I stuck up for Cabela's, gun.deals, and Mossberg I work for all of them too.

Again you don't know how either GrabaGun or Buds run either of their business. You know one aspect of it. That's it. You can compare your experiences with both of them that's perfectly fine. But when you start making up shit, which you were doing, someone's gonna call you out on it. Which I did.
