Mine runs perfectly and delivers sub MOA accuracy so I'm very pleased with the rifle. I did have cycling issues out of the box but were eventually resolved by the factory. I'm not going to say it wasn't frustrating but they did take care of it and the rifle performance is superb with mil spec ammo. I've paid 2-3x for other piston rifles and personally have found this one a solid value.

From what I can tell, the initial release had design problems causing cycling issues. I would imagine these aren't present in later models. Mine is serial SFM00002xx so would guess it was one of the first 200 made. It would be interesting to identify what serial ranges people have seen problems with to determine if the cycling issues are even an issue any longer.

I don't like having problems with new firearms but can say support did get them resolved and backed the product 100%.

As for upgrades, AA has a better than average trigger but still went with a drop in. I also went with a VDI brake although there are better ones from my perspective. Bottom line is this rifle needs little to no upgrade to deliver respectable results.

I will give you guys the low down I own the aa ar15 and I seen a few videos on YouTube about them having cycling issues after I already had purchased the rifle and was having cycling issues... in the video I watched the guy said he had to repeatedly send the rifile back to get it fixed adams arms was going to give me the run around but I was ready for them lol told them not to send it back until it ran and now this thing will eat steel case but I usually run wolf gold and have not had one problem since I got it back from them. I have fired around 2,000 rounds so far with no jams with complete 40 round mag dumps loaded with 38 rounds.

This is a 308, your seems to be a 5.56/.223 rifle.

I love my Adamas arms 5.56 piston rifles, but this rifle has never ran from the getgo. It has been back and forth 3 times with AA and I finally had them replace it with some piston kits. Adams arms customer service was excellent, although there must be an inherent design flaw in this 308 piston setup. Grabagun offered absolutely no support after the sale and then did not approve the review I submitted on their website. I have bought a lot of stuff from them but have mixed feelings after they wouldn't even post my review detailing issues with the rifle.

Adams Arms makes some of the most hyped up junk I've seen in a long time.

I own one of their 5.56 models and I've never had an issue with it. I bought it for $600 about a year and half ago. Now I have read that people with the AR10 model are having cycling issues but that is not the case for the AR15's

Im following reviews pretty closely, and almost universally the issues seem related to tight fitment during break-in. Which is actually my personal preference. I'd rather a tight rifle that gets smoothed out as it breaks in, than something that gets sloppy. Some people are just impatient though, or want something that's 100% out of the box. I cant blame them for that, but this is not that rifle.

Yeah, a tight break in is a cool assumption. I ran about 400 rounds through this rifle when I purchased it.

It wouldn't cycle a complete magazine one time. I sent it back, and received horse-shit excuses from them for 2 months as to what is wrong with it, and that they're ordering parts.

Once they finally sent it back, the work-order stated that they enlarged the gas port hole and replaced the buffer spring that was out of spec.

I was excited and went to the range to shoot it. Damn thing didn't cycle a full 20 round magazine one time.

I was very patient with this rifle. I knew that if this gun didn't work that I was going to sell it and all of the ammo I have since I didn't have another 308. So I said screw it, just keep running ammo through it and see if the kinks get worked out. NOPE

I had a Brownells Mag, a DPMS mag, and the Magpul mag that came with it. I ran high end ammo, and cheap ammo, all Brass. The gun was unreliable period.

I hope this helps. I sold that piece of crap 308.

1,000 bucks for something to hopefully work itself out? Hell no

I bought one a little over a month ago. Exact same rifle and setup. Wasn't able to cycle a single 308 pmag through without ftf or fte. I sent it back for repair and they've almost had it for a month. All I've been told is that a new bolt and charging handle has been ordered. No clue what the problem is. I'm hoping everything works smoothly when they send it back.

I had the exact same issue. Mine has been gone for over a month and a half now. Did it work well for you when you got it back?

Does anyone have one of these? Thoughts? Looking for my first 308. I have been waiting for the Aero OEM to get back in stock. This vs. Areo 308 OEM?

This is the better design, the DPMS GII pattern small-frame 308. Alot of upgrades over the original DPMS pattern, smaller, lighter weight, takes more AR15 accesories, etc.

However, its a new design (2014) and had a few growing pains. DPMS has worked theirs out, but Adams Arms just picked up the design and are going through a similar phase. Primary is, it seems they come 'tight' from factory and have issues until you get a hundred or so rounds though.

Gen3 PMAGs are a known issue, they were developed at the same time as the DPMS GII design so DPMS was unable to test them before production. The problem is the G3 PMAGs thicker polymer lips make the follower ride slightly lower than other mags, which doesnt engage the AR bolt-hold reliably. You can mod the G3 followers to ride high enough, takes about 30 seconds.

you're an idiot. What is tight? Nothing wears like you think it does. Lay off of this thread, you don't even own the rifle.

I had one, it sucked. Had so many issues. Piston was seized in the gas block from corrosion when I bought it. Once I got that all cleaned up, it wouldn't cycle an entire magazine reliably. Sold it.

I have one but it would not run at all. Had to send it in for warranty work. I should have it back in hand within 2 weeks. I love the design, fit, and finish. Piston over DI every day of the week. Adams Arms has been excellent with RMA so far, just waiting to get it back (2-3 week turnaround). I love my 556 & 7.62x39 ar-15 based adams piston kits.
