Just got mine and they arrived in great condition. As another user posted, packaging was not great but worked. I will say that the tan is not nearly as light in color as the picture shows. Much darker and more like grey/tan. Not a great color. Nothing a paint can't fix but had I of known that I would have ordered more black ones or some green ones.

Made in China and seem to be the same ones Harbor Freight sells but these have a letter templete for paint.

Not free shipping. 3.49 with a $250 ammo order

The ammo cans that I received appear to be of good quality and arrived quickly. Packaging was not good, however. Each can was wrapped in a thin bubble wrap sheet. The box they were shipped in was very thin and no additional cushioning was added to fill in the voids in the shipping box. Also, on the ammo cans, the lids were not pinned. I can remove the lids by simply sliding them off the back hinges. Is this a defect? Were the lids supposed to be non-removable? Anyone else had the same issue? Other than this, the cans are sturdy, well-made.

I buy these by the truckload. Much better deal that way. Anyone need a can? I got 5700 of them.

What makes these better than the StoutStuff cans at Walmart for $9?

I like having 3 different color options as I 'color-code' different calibers.
Other than that, exact same can.

Menards has the 50 cal and 30 cal 2 pack for 15$. Today was last day they had 5$ rebate on them so total was 10$. I grabbed 5 twin packs. Great deal.

Check out your local Costco. They have a new 50-cal ammo can, with a 30-cal ammo can inside, for $15.

Nice price, but the shipping was so slow I forgot I ordered the thing.

Picked up 4 more in store today @ 9.99 each.
I gravitate towards (3) different calibers, so the 3 colors works out nice. Also a lot easier to lug around than my 30mm cans.

Sold in select stores only. I have a couple of these and mil-surp .50 cans the mil-surp are a little thicker then the Chinese ones I got (didn't get them from academy) as for the color they sell rattle cans and you can make them any color you want if this is a great price for you I tried a camo can color once but set it down and could never find it again, guess the camo was too good.

SG is still a better deal when they come back in stock for mil-surp cans.

I'm seeing just green at the posted link. Anyone seeing black (or FDE?) FWIW, bought two green ones around Thanksgiving and was pleased with the quality, it took a couple of weeks for them to show up. Academy must have had a run and were waiting on stock. Cans seem sturdy, the seal is tight, paint looks good, and they did indeed come with a stencil. Thanks OP

$17.99 each free shipping is what I see. How to get them for $9.99??

Academy got lots of my money on Friday, but I compared 3 of these cans to two 2-packs at Costco, and went that way. I got 2 .50 caliber cans and 2 .30 caliber cans nested one inside the other for the same $30. YMMV

I have a few of the costco cans too. I was thinking of returning them and purchasing these 9.99 can deals. Forgot that costco had two cans. Were your costco cans on sale? They're 19.99 for the two can combo near me.

Just left Academy Sports in Orlando, FL....the sales guy told me they'll be BOGO at $10 on Black Friday.

I doubt that's true. The ad shows they're $10, and the regular price is $18

I've got this last year and they're pretty solid. They sized right up with my US surplus .50 cans. The paint is a bit glossier than USGI (particularly on Tan and Black), and of course made in china. But it's not bad. holds ammo and stores very well. Living in Texas, Academy is local to me so I get these at the story (but pay the sales tax) but I get to inspect them before I buy them. At $10, I like to use them as give-away gifts during the holiday times. Practical and unique among what people normally get. And they come with a free stencil for marking! lol. =P

These are the best ammo cans I have ever found. This Chinese factory is 1 of 5 that gets it right. See for yourself.

I think we should all resist buying Chinese products--especially gun and ammo products. I get used .50 milsurp cans for $7/can (no tax and no shipping). I pick them up when I sell my brass. Sure, the cans I get are used but, they are of higher quality than anything made in China.

Unless you are buying 20 cans for free shipping, it's $8.50 shipping on 1 can, $12.00 on 2 and up. The Academy ones are free shipping.

PSA wants $12/can shipping...$3.50 / additional can. 3 cans from PSA are $42.97....3 from Academy $29.97.

The cans at PSA are Black Hawk USA made. The china made Game Winner cans are not even close to the quality of the Black Hawk cans.

My experience has been the opposite. The 30cal Black Hawk cans I got from PSA looked like they were painted by dipping; the handle was glued to the can with a big glob of paint I had to break off. The paint on all of the Game Winners I've bought has been great.

Besides that, they're both fine in terms of material, seal, and construction.

I bought 3 last year. Great cans for ammo. They arrived in perfect condition. I ordered some ammo from Academy that was packed badly and a couple of the boxes came opened and the rounds ended up loose in the shipping box but not damaged. I called customer service just to alert them that their packing was being handled poorly. They immediately offered a one time 15% discount code with no expiration or limit. Seeing as I only had to put the rounds back in the boxes, I felt it was a nice gesture. I took full advantage of the code and saved a good chunk of money later. If your cans come damaged, call them.

I've had the same complaints about shipping/ packaging when I ordered 4 at a time. The last time they came on sale I bought case of 12, which is the way they come packaged from the factory. They were well packaged in the original factory packaging with no shipping damage or dents - unlike past orders.

Picked up 3 (for free shipping) as I wanted to try out some of the Case Club ammo can foam inserts (Pistol case, mag case, etc.). Wonder if they are made by the same OE as the Cabela's deal from last year (or maybe year before, I can't remember). Picked up 10 of those at $9.99ea. They smelled terrible too, but all work just peachy.

Just an FYI, last year, packaging for these was very bad. I bought 6 of these. They arrived in a very large box with no bubble wrap or popcorn of any kind. The boxes were all scratched and beat up. On one of them, the handle was bent pretty bad. I will never buy anything online from Academy again. Hope those of you who will buy these this year will get a decent packaging.

I had the same issue with packaging last year. But the price is right, in for 10 more.

Ordered these last year. They are not mil-spec, but the ones I received were very good quality with solid construction and seal. Definitely worth the price. Just ordered 6 more!

Ordered 5. Decent delivered price for a steel can. As long as they are study and seal, they will be fine for my purposes.

Thanks for posting this! I've been waiting for these to go on sale somewhere with free shipping. Last year Bass Pro got my money. Now I don't have to go out on crazy Friday to get these from Bass Pro.

They did the same sale last year and I ordered 8. They came in one box of six and one box of two. They all had cardboard between them and were in good condition. They stink like crazy and I let them sit open in my garage for a week before bringing them into the house, but now they hold ammo like all my others and I can't tell them apart from any of the dozens of other cans I have.

I'm going to get more this year.
