I've ordered twice from this site. If you are going to use them within a year then yeah it's a good deal but if you are thinking you can hold on to this 5-10 yrs from now then I would go elsewhere. The reason: The clear plastic vacuum seal bags that the items is packed in is poorly sealed. Hence, not vacuum sealed at all. You also have to wonder if this was a leftover from the desert and the seal have melted away causing it to open unintentionally, and who knows how long it's been sitting in the heat.

The outside plastic bag does nothing. Who cares if it’s even open. Each item is sealed. And these things can be eaten 10 years from now if you want. Trust me the army never gave us ones that were good. All out of date. Not all but some and they were done

Many times when 'surplus' MRE's are posted such as these, I try to explain why it's not a smart purchase. Some people are gluttons for punishment.

The smartest way to get MRE's that are 100% stored properly is to ask a active duty or retired veteran to get you some from a military commissary.

If someone is interested on the experience with these I found this post on the AR15 forum:

Mine came today. Date code places these September 2012. All are reduced sodium, all are repackaged into clear vacuum seal bags. I'll probably try to use them up for hiking/backpacking trips.

"They have a long shelf life: 3 years for military components and 1 year for commercial components." So they're expired. Mmmm

Jammin Butter is good to go.

I've been dealing with them for years with no complaints.

I bought these last time around. Date code was late 2012. These are definitely "light" ... about 850 calories if you ate everything. Only one of 12 actually had meat. All were "reduced sodium".

It's a halfway decent price. I ordered one to see how they are. If you read through the description on the website you get the heater , utensils , drink mix, and an entre, what is missing is the side like augrutun potatoes or whatever else would be the side.
When mine shows up I'll post my .02

So I'll order 3 packs(18 MRE's) for $55.00. Can't remember last time I got 12 for less than that.

i wonder what the date on these is. They could be at the end of their useful life.

Check out the description.. I don't believe these are "complete" MRE's. Appears to be a light calorie version. Doesn't come w all the stuff a regular one does, hence the low price.

I agree, These are not comparable to military MRE's.

Every now and again I'll have a friend or neighbor ask me to hop over to the nearby military base and fetch them some bonefide MRE's at the base commissary. Last time there they were $92 a case if memory serves.

Personally I wouldn't buy these MRE's or even military MRE's from an unknown vendor. Knowing they were stored properly is EVERYTHING.

The listed calorie count did throw me as well. From what I remember a MRE should have about 1200 calories if you eat EVERYTHING.

Not a bad price (3 dollars each shipped) for complete, ungutted MREs however I have never really trusted these "daily deail" type websites.

I tend to trust Amazon more than these people. The purchases I made with "woot" have been alright. But this place? Paypal let me know that my purchase from 'that daily deal' was from merchant "Jammin Butter" at the email 'sales at 13 deals .com'

..... Yeah. Did I just place an order with a legitimate company or some bozo from Tennessee.

My order has been at "Processing - Will Ship Soon" for almost a week now.

That's a big mistake, Woot sells a lot of products that are rebuilt, old stock and they're model is to sell remnants. I've placed a lot of orders with Woot, and many of them I've returned back to them.

MREs as I said before can be a fickle item. Knowing where they came from and more importantly, knowing they were stored properly away from heat is EVERYTHING>

I didn't order this deal but picked up some merino wool socks from 13deals on a whim and they did come - it took a couple of weeks, but they came. And it showed up as "Jammin Butter" on my account as well. As to whether this deal is a good one or not, I dunno. But I'd feel ok about the merchant being legit. Even if they are from Tennessee. ;)
