Lonzo: Yes all 5 come for the one price. They are very crudely made but they sharpen well and are usable.

It’s spelled “Colombian” from the country of Colombia, not Columbia. It’s not British Columbia, it’s not the District of Columbia.

Haha! I never caught the misspelling way back when I created this deal post all those years ago. I usually edit my own posts a bit better than that. Totally my bad.

"columbian military".. hahaha if this is what their military carries then its no wonder that country is run by coke lords.... besides these are most likely "made in pakistan" from leftover scrap of all the vehicles, planes, tanks the NATO forces shot down around that area and afghanistan borders lol

I originally posted this deal, but never even ordered a set as I have more machetes than I know what to do with already. That said, all the reviews I've read say these are actually made in Colombia of good steel and not that scrap, unhardenable, mild steel crap coming out of Pakistan.

Went from 12.99 to 14.99 to 17.99 now 22.49. now 26
Bought mine when they were 12.99 and they are actually decent and do need real sharpening, but after that a stone in the pocket will keep you clearing brush for hours until you're covered in bugs and sores.

This a great gift for a friend. Honestly, it's the gift that keeps on giving. The guy who recieves 5 machetes probably gives 4 away.

Having 4 sets of these and being a blacksmith who knows a bit:

You could definitely reshape some of these for other purposes, but the main issue is that if you ruin the heat treat, it would be difficult to properly re-heat treat the steel because it is unknown.

It would be preferable to reshape them with methods that don’t heat the steel up more than a couple hundred degrees, but that can be a slow, tedious process.

It's hard to find the materials in this deal for less than this price.
Would any of you owners recommend using the steel for other knife projects?
I plan to keep a couple "as is" maybe just put my own nice handles on them. I plan to cut the others and/or reshape them for other purposes such as a drawing knife, rocker pizza cutting knife, fleshing knife, and I need a honeycomb wax knife. Depending on the thickness of the blades and chemistry, I have a few more knife and projects I want to make
Would you say the steel or at least some of the necessary properties to at least make a decent tool or knife for some of these various purposes?

Actually one is from the FARC, one is from the paramilitary, one is from the actual military, one is from a coffee plantation, and the last is from a coco field. The coco one tastes the best.

They are nice, but will need serious work to sharpen them. It almost looks like they were put on a grinder, blade first, in order to dull them. I don't have a belt sander nearby so these are paper weights until I can afford one.

The wooden handled ones are real tools, quality useful machetes made of high carbon steel. The plastic handled ones are cheap, lightweight thin toys made of shiny brittle stainless that has been mockingly fashioned in the shape of a real machete.

update: After using them clearing land I am so impressed with two of them that this deal is a steal at this price even with the few shiny throw away ones they send. The long scimtar tipped one and the cane knife both cut so very well after sharpening. Easy to safely control the swing for precisely aimed deep cuts. A fast swing isn't required, the thin kerf and deep belly in the sweet spot drive them deep and straight. They don't turn in the cut or bounce off, allowing you to keep your own limbs while removing woody limbs.

I agree completely. 3 of the 5 are basically throw-a-ways. The other two have held up nicely and, after sharpening, have surprisingly maintained their edge after a handful uses through some fairly dense thickets.

For those who may be looking for a pretty good belt sharpener that won't break the bank, you may want to take a look at the offerings from Work Sharp. My original belts are holding up quite nicely and have been used on everything from skinning knifes to yard tools. When you need replacement belts, they can usually be found for less than $10 on Amazon.

These are the real deal. Long time manufacturers - at less than $5 bucks per. 5 is a lot, but can you have too many machetes?

The deal is back! Reviews are great on this grab bag of knives, but comments point out they will come without much of an edge, which is normal for machetes.

I already have both a Condor Parang Machete and a Condor Village Parang, both with beautiful leather sheaths, that are way too nice to use in the field, IMHO. I have a nice Tramontina El Salvador Machete that I do use. Still, I want these knives/machetes to play with. I hope they are still in stock next month when I have some extra spending cash.

Let the Zombie Apocalypse begin!
