Sorry to hear that JNFoo! I have both 30rd and 28rd and do fine, but if this is the case CPD should take care of this!

Soft points are a very popular round from target, defense and hunting. They're one of the best bang for your buck and they should WORK in our mags!

CPD help him out!

No go on the 30 rounders. That's what I learned after a week trying to get assistance through C Products email support. Only one guy there seems to know anything about their own magazines. It doesn't make sense to me why CPD won't put disclaimers or give customers a heads up that a good portion of the brass ammo out there for 7.62x39 will NOT work with their mags. They know the issue but won't mention it on their product information, neither do they seem inclined to innovate to be able to provide for all shooters of the caliber. Specifically, the soft point type brass ammo is not ideal for AR platforms (fair enough)... unfortunately, this is also their customer service's way of saying their lifetime warranty is useless depending if you use certain types of widely available ammo. My options are limited because my local ranges don't allow steel ammo. If you're in the same boat, caveat emptor.

I am getting constant jams too. Working with the manufacturer to resolve. They haven't been great at responding to emails (took 5 days to answer one question) but they are taking a look at my issue, I guess. I'll report back if I am able to get my 30 rounders working.

The irony here is: these sell at Brownells for $20, typically with a Brownells code you can get %10 off and free shipping. That’s $18 each, with free shipping. Better deal at Brownells.

Do you carry anything except the gen 3? I got two 30 round and two five round from you two weeks ago. Nothing but jams. It appears the rounds are hanging up on the mag where the ridges are on the bottom of the feed lips. I’ve already tried modifying a couple of them, but I haven’t tried them again.

There is 100% warranty from the manufacturer. Send an email to us and I will forward to the manufacturer for replacements. The jams are unacceptable and shouldn't happen.

If their customer service finds that you are using ammo that has soft points, their email support will basically be almost non-responsive. And they have no solutions for users of those types of ammo in 7.62x39mm. Shame, I had been told such good things about them.

28rd mags do fit in AR mag pouches better, a doesn't look as curved as the 30rd mag.

Got four of these yesterday and received a shipping notification in a couple hours which is great! Only downside is I wanted five but the shipping doubled from 7 to 14 dollars so if you want five then be prepared for that.

The only two types of mags that I've had 100% success with are ASC and Windham Weaponry. The Windham mags are amazing but pricey. I'm referring to the ones that have "arrows" pointing up on their sides. I have a number of 20 and 30 round ASC's that all run flawless and two Windham 30's which are my go to mags for both my AR's in 7.62x39..

I recently bought 2 10 rounders and 2 30s my 30 rounders also got hung up in the turn. I am gonna try some graphite hopefully it was because they are new and very stiff!

The side spot welds were a little deep after the inside high spots were taken off they run flawless!

I was just about to pull the trigger on the GenIII 30rd magazines, but now I'm wondering if the 28rd ones are more reliable. I thought the GenIII worked out the kinks for the 30rd mags. This is my first outing with the AR platform in 7.62x39 after being a dedicated AK owner. Should I get the 30 or the 28 round mags?

Also, does anyone have experience with the 5rd mags, I was going to use them for hunting.

Please note, C Products Defense stands by their products with 100% warranty. Both the 28 and 30 round mags should work perfectly for you or they will replace them. Also, we have never had any issues with the 5 round mags.

Bought a CPD 30rd genIII from my LGS Monday after having 2 ASC 30 rounders fail repeatedly. 7 shots in before the CPD jammed with wolf ammo. Feeding was 100% reliable, which is far better than the ASC mags, but the jam occured just as the follower was reaching the curved part of the mag. As described below by Janizary. CPD is far and away better than un-modified ASC mags, but still not reliable.

Yeah, I've got that issue on both of the 30s now.

Tried some silicon lube and that clears it up for a mag, but then it goes right back to locking up on the curve. Curiously, the 28s don't have that problem. Anecdotal, of course, since I only have my samples to work with.

I've been pretty much just using the 28s dlaoloading only 25, and the 20s. The 30s run with 20 just fine, but that is kind of defeating the point.

Currently parting together a KS47 upper (PSA's hybrid AR/AK thing, AR type upper, with a proprietary lower that takes AK mags). I picked up the stripped upper on sale a month or so back, and finally got the hybrid BCG in stock and ordered this week. I'll be pulling the free float rail and barrel this weekend and putting those on the PSA upper (have to use their proprietary upper as a regular AR upper won't work on the KS47 lower). I'll probably re-barrel the upper I've been using at some point (next KAK barrel sale probably). I like this well enough, and I much prefer using AR-type mags, I'm just not 100% confident in reliability at this point. Besides, I have a boat-load of AK mags laying about, so that is not an issue.

Hello Janizary, I also bought a few of the Mags! My 30's were working ok still have not had any problems but have only put around 150 rounds through them! Have not tried the 20's yet I hope that I don't run into the same problems, If I do they will be going back! If the SHIF I need reliability! Not Problems!

Thanks for the update, DA. My other ones seem to run just fine and running that shorty 7.62x39 on one of my SBR lowers is entirely too much fun.

Range results after several trips:

2x-30 round mags: No issues at all. Feed and drop free without issue. Loading 29th and 30th round is a tight.

2x-28 round mags: No issues at all. Feed and drop free without issue. Loading the 26th and 27th round is tight, 28th round is a beast.

3x-20 round mags:
• None will drop free when empty.
• 1 ran without issue.
• 1 ran without issue after a bit of fiddling with the mag lips (would FTL on the 2nd to last round every time).
• 1 continues to FTL the 2nd to last round after quite a bit of fiddling. With these 20s on those last few rounds the carrier tilts to the rear either causing the bolt carrier to miss the round entirely, or, barely grab the case edge and cause a jam.
• Taking a close look at the 20s the fold of metal on the front of all three mags is not terribly well pressed together. A bit of light tapping with a small smith's hammer with a rubber head made for a much better fit. Even then, the geometry for the mags in the mag well varies quite a bit from mag to mag and none drop free from any lower I tried them on.
• The magazine finish is quickly wearing off the mags where they are in contact with the mag well.

2x-10 round mags: No issues at all. Feed and drop free without issue. Getting in the 9th round is tough, the 10th round is a Herculean effort.

Overall I am very pleased with all but the 20 round mags. None drop free, one is a serious pain to get in the mag well (tried in three different lowers, the issue is the magazine geometry). While all three appeared to feed correctly on my first outing, I was short-loading the mags. After loading them full for the first time that is when the FTL on 2nd to last round started.

North River, however, are great. I had an issue with one mag and they sent a replacement immediately with a pre-paid return shipping bag included. Excellent customer service.

Update:

On one of the 30s the carrier is now getting 'stuck' about 1/3 of the way from the bottom (basically right in the middle of the deep curve of the mag). Typically after 6-7 rounds are shot. Basically just wedges itself in place and won't move unless the mag is disassembled and the carrier pushed out of the jam with something.

Tried a few different dry lubes to help coax it around the bend but no luck. Not sure why it ran for several full loads w/o issue and now won't 'get around the curve' as it were. I might just have to short-load this mag.

Hello, I am new to the 7.62x39 caliber! Can some one explain to me why you would want a 20rd or 28rd mag instead of a 30rd?

CProduct's 28-round magazine fits into a 30rd GI mag pouch (the 30 does not).

(Just me) 20 round magazine will allow for the rifle to be used from a bench without the magazine getting in the way. Makes using a bench rest for sighting-in workable.

Ordered on Tuesday just go them today (Saturday) USPS was a day late. Not the vendors fault. My upper comes tomorrow. Will post on how well the mags perform. Out of the box though they look solid. Sturdy construction, no follower tilt. I have high hopes

Ordered some 30s and 20s for a new 7.62x39 build. Looking forward to trying them out. Reviews seem good on the new gen of CProd AR47 mags.

I noticed that the 20rd mags had a tighter fit in the mag well than the 30s that I picked up.

Taking a close look at the 20s the fold of metal on the front of all three mags is not terribly well pressed together. A bit of light tapping with a small smith's hammer with a rubber head made for a much better fit. Even then, the geometry for the mags in the mag well varies quite a bit from mag to mag and none drop free from any lower I tried them on.

The 30s drop free and fit quite well. Wonder if the 20s are an older generation?

Either way, first trip to the range with them this morning and short loads feed fine (function testing a new build...holy over gassed beast). I'll try full mag loads once I get an adjustable gas block on the build. Right now the carrier is outrunning the follower on the last round.

And huge kudos to North River Distributors for super quick CS response on an item and getting it swapped out without issue. Based on that, and the mags so far, I'll be shopping with them again soon. Most likely to try a few of the 28rd mags when they come back in stock again.
