Wimpy light output but a monster at eating batteries.

Yeah don't buy these. I just returned them because they aren't bright enough and I can't emphasize enough that they EACH TAKE 4 (FOUR) AAA batteries. I like the suggestion of getting one of the shorter LED strips.

This is stupid.

1. Buy a 16ft strip of LED lights on Amazon for 8 bucks.
2. Buy a rechargeable Lithium battery pack on Amazon for 18 bucks
3. Buy a "normally closed" switch on amazon or ebay for 5 bucks.

Remove the adhesive backing on the lights and put them around the safe door frame facing inwards. They'll shine towards the interior of your safe and be hidden from sight.

Run the switch to the door so that it breaks the circuit when it's closed.

Hook up battery pack.

DONE. Takes about an hour, and will work WAY better than this Janky stuff.

These are krap and will cost you a small fortune using short lived expensive AAA batteries.
OxyLed makes a 20 LED light that's rechargeable and way more brighter. https://www.amazon.com/OxyLED-Under-Cabinet-Lightening-Rechargeable-T-02U/dp/B06XXM2C6F/ref=sr_1_5?keywords=oxyled&qid=1555007223&s=gateway&sr=8-5&th=1...

You can buy these and just use rechargeable triple AAA batteries. That's what I did and put them in my safe, the nice thing here is that the LEDs will pretty much last forever and when the AAA batteries go bad I can just replace them. Where as if you buy the OxyLED ones, once they no longer hold a charge you pretty much just have to go buy entirely new lights.

Buying rechargeable AAA batteries will bring the cost of these up to the same price as the OxyLED though so if you prefer not having to pull out the AAA bats to charge and are fine with buying new units when the internal pack as pooped then the OxyLEDs ones are a nice alternative.

The light stays on for 25 seconds. I don't see battery life being an issue in a space you're only in for 25 seconds a few times times a day max.
