Federal makes this 223 Rem cartridge for law enforcement officers. (No worries if you haven’t got a badge, of course – you are still entitled to BallistiClean.) This round’s 55 grain bullet offers a conventional muzzle velocity, but as a Reduced Hazard Training (RHT) bullet it is totally frangible. The bullet will turn into harmless powder the instant it hits anything hard, rendering the risk of splash-back pretty much non-existent.

This round further features Federal’s Toxic-Metal Free primer. Just like you’d guess, there’s no lead, barium, or antimony in the primer to pollute your indoor range once it’s ignited. There’s no lead in this round’s frangible bullet for propellant gasses to vaporize, either, so you can breathe more easily while you practice your mag dumps.

This OSHA and EPA compliant cartridge actually offers a lot for home defense as well. It is decidedly unhealthy to get hit by any bullet packing a four digit foot-pound force, frangible or otherwise. What’s more, a frangible bullet is significantly less likely to penetrate a wall and harm something precious on the other side of it.

This ammo is brass cased and great for reloading after the fact. Federal’s usual propellant burns nice and clean, a worthy complement to the BallistiClean label!
