For ammo storage, I recommend the MTM "30 caliber" can over the 50, as the 50 has buckled open on me when fully loaded (maybe if you leave your ammo boxed, decreasing the amount inside it won't do this). However, if you're just using it as a dry-box for gear I am sure it's fine. Normally I'd say save some cash and opt for some surplus metal cans but, the quality of those lately has been so poor that I've had to spend a lot of time refurbishing them and getting them in a condition suitable for ammo storage.
