Picked one up this morning to try out. Had good luck with their barrels for affordable builds thus far.

For me 18" is too short and they don't have any 20+" barrels in stock. Wanted to try these Spintas for their low price point. This is a great price for an 18" though, awesome price. I went with the 20" Faxon QPQ from AIM. Would like to know how SPINTA end up shooting so if you can follow up after break in at range would be appreciated. If they shoot well I might just buy a shorter barrel for a separate upper build with shorter barrel.

Got this email from them this morning with a 24" 308 BBL:

I've used a few of the Faxon barrels (Gunner and Pencil) for AR15 builds and been extremely pleased with both their build quality and performance. I think you'll be very happy with yours for a .308.

I'll post up results once I get all the parts in and down to the range.

How did the other barrels you used from Spinta perform (accuracy wise)? Thanks!

The Spinta (223/556) BBLs I've used have performed on par with the Anderson barrels I typically use for affordable builds, and I am not unconvinced that they are not Anderson barrels themselves as they share the same proof marks. I was particularly pleased with the LW .223 Wylde barrel in one build as it had very little heat deflection between cold and hot barrel states.

I haven't mounted any of these builds with magnified optics so accuracy is on par with what I am capable of (2-3MOA at 100Y with a Aimpoint PRO and old man eyes). They may be capable of better, but that is just fine for the use I put them to (range loaners for young shooters where the LW BBL really brings down the front-end weight of the carbine).

Velocity is down a bit (~90-100fps) compared to the KAK (value line) and Voodoo (only pick these up on black friday sales) barrels I typically use. I don't think that is a mark against Spinta as the KAK and Voodoo BBLs are both melonited.

Are these up to BA/Faxon/KAK/Voodoo? (all reasonable performers that a working man can afford) In the extremes, probably not. But for the money (1/2 to 1/3 price), keeping one's expectations reasonable they are a decent bargain and seem to perform well for range applications. If you had to buy one barrel for a GOOD/TEOTWAWKI situation, I'd spend a bit more and grab one of those others (or camp out on PSA's barrel page for the rare FN CHF BBL that shows up at a reasonable price).
