I "bit the bullet" and paid $228.02 (w/ship) ($.26 a round) for a crate of 880 in June 2014. Compared to current pricing I got a deal. This is more than enough ammunition for my lifetime since I only shoot about 20 rounds at a time.

If anyone thinks that any vendor that comes into a shipment of 54R isn't going to raise their prices you are fooling yourself. This ammo is now in short supply so prices are going to reflect that.
Have prices come back down on 22LR, 5.56, or 9MM to pre-Sandyhook prices? NOPE. Everything is more expensive these days compared to a few years ago and it's pretty clear that the days of 20 cent 54R are gone.

Yes, the prices of 5.56 and 9MM have come back down?

I purchase 9MM at .18cpr and 5.56 for .26cpr...

Oneeyepeter: wives think everything is crazy till they are realize how smart we are. SGs shady practice is no doubt. However, it seems that we fall into their traps time to time for some good deal because most people that come to this site just wanna save a buck or two.

wow This is why I don't get a Membership to SG or literally buy anything from them, due to the poor reviews and reports of back orders being cancelled. Shady practices it seems. Also is anyone else sick of seeing all their ads dominating slick guns. Its made me visit the site a lot less lately. I am just glad I bought 11 cases when it could be found for .17 ppr. My wife thought I was crazy for buying so much old ammo.

I am with you. I don't want to do anything with company that you have to be member to get "special" pricing (that is usually higher than regular deal somewhere else)

I purchased 880 rounds of 54r from Sportsmans Guide back in 2006, $89 SHIPPED in a crate, yes prices have come up, but it has always been increasing, $180 a year ago, now $285 seems a bit high. FYI

I was pretty shocked when I received the notification email that this ammo was back in stock, and I was even more shocked when I saw the price. The last time they had this exact ammo, I believe it was around $200 for 880 rounds, and the 440-round tin of silver-tip ammo was $94.99, so this new price is just ridiculous. Of course, it's still a lot cheaper than new production ammo, but I think I'll pass on it anyways.

I emailed asking if my backorder will be fulfilled with this and they said I ordered a different item. To be fair, mine was two 440rnd cans.. not 880 rnds with half in each of two cans. I explained it was the same ammo with same description and specs but they said it was different. Sigh...

Thanx but no thanx SG.

I got the email alert from SG this morning and nearly peed my pants with joy. Opened the email, saw the price, and decided to be pissed off instead. What a crock.

This might just be the tinfoil in me, but I have a sneaky suspicion that SG has been sitting on a few million rounds of this for some time, and is merely testing the waters with this insane price. Don't buy any, and let's see if it goes out of stock and magically comes back at a lower price. Bunch of jerks if they're not honoring previous backorders purchased at those lower prices.

SG indeed a gouged, waiting for the United States to forgive Russian is like they said gun control works. I have stocked up some too, but it was under .25 a pop.

Waiting for United States to Forgive Russia like they did for IRAN then ammo be cheap again. The hell with this price, other guns to shoot and I stocked up on this when it was .17 cents a round. SPortsman guide the GOUGERS!

The U.S. needed a country to boycott since obama got on his Knees for Iran. In due time the Next President will lift the sanctions and we will have Russian surplus again. Until then shoot something else.

And guys, remeber they posted "1000 rounds of Magtech" for like $150 and all buyers were informed that it was out of stock or either in stock in 6 months? As of today 1/21/2016, it's in stock and my order wasn't filled nor many of other buyers like me. So fuck them!

Flange: aren't you surprise with their shady tactic?I wouldn't, so fuck them!

Interesting that my backorder for this ammo for $180 isn't being filled, but they sure have it in stock to sell at $285.

FYI - coupon code SG3568 can only be used once. It wouldn't let me apply this code to my reorder of this item.

Bummer, I don't understand why their website is not up to date. Cabelas does the same thing. I ordered something from Aim and called to be sure I really was getting it they acted like I was asking a silly question. Why would we let you order something we don't have?

zanrob I didn't call you a liar .
what I said is "that's not right" meaning that's screwed up .not your a liar and making it up. so maybe you should think before you accuse me of saying something I didn't say.
I don't work like that
I feel bad they did that to you .
'so why don't you call instead of emailing it might help
and if that comment was not directed to me
forget what I said above
if it was it still stands the same

How does this work since I see it for sale for 189/199 when I look up 7.62x54r ammo on their site?
Essentially - why does the link above get me to a better price than I can navigate to on their site?

You can find it for both prices on their site.

I paid 199 last week, so I called and they gave me a refund for the difference. I also ordered another case at the 157 price less the $15 code.

That's not right
I had that same situation happen to me
And they told me as long as the code is the same they would honor the smaller price.

They just screwed me over on 3 cases of 762x39 it was in my cart for 110.97 emailed and sent a picture of my cart .I received a absurd email saying the product code was 2 years old and they would not honor the price. Ive had enough of their bait and switch tactics . Theres plenty of ammo out there for the same or better prices. Now thw same product code is listed for the exact same ammo.they are full of shit . I quit more for you all . Good luck I never had any . Also they told me they can change the price anytime they want and that guarantee is bs they wouldnt refund a dime and I just renewed.

Good deal.

I still laugh when gun show dealers in my area ask $120 for one can. Have fun loading them back into the trailer, guy.

And now it's at $103.

Gander.... $130 ... +tax!
Can you imagine how valuable it would be to have a list of the suckers who buy it at that price. They would get put on a "special list" to get direct mail flyers with all kind of high-margin "deals" just for them.

its a fantastic deal even with shipping which is only $19.00
you will not find it cheaper to your door.
I just bought 880 rds. a week ago then saw price drop so I bought another 880 rds. with the $9.00 off on shipping grand total $167.67.
damn should have used my $10.00 coupon...... "next time"

How is this "not a deal"?

0 votes

Maybe because it's acutally 157.69, not 157...
Or because they had free shipping and now they don't?
Or maybe the thumbs down used to buy this for $50 and feels he's getting screwed?
lol
