To comment on an old thread (below): be aware that MOST of Sportsman's Guide U.S. Military Surplus is NOT actual surplus but branded "U.S. Military Surplus." Notice how they capitalize Military and Surplus? The fact they are selling "NEW" Molle to Alice adapters should tell you something fishy is going on with the name "U.S. Military Surplus." And and half the crap is made to match Woodland Camo BDU's? Oh okay, must be surplus from all those soldiers just getting back from Bosnia?

Not sure if these are indeed made but "Soffe," as stated below, however if there were, it would most likely be at their Fayetteville NC plant (minutes from Fort Bragg) and not Honduras as stated on SG's site. Also there is no "NSN number" which SCREAMS copy.

It's almost like Sportsmansguide is a shitty company that sells overpriced garbage.

Don't forget you have to pay to be a member to get decent pricing and they charge a $15 fee on top of freight for guns. I used to like them but that was when a $20 membership saved you $30 just for signing up and potentially hundreds per year. Those days are long gone.

These are not surplus shirts. These are made by a brand called soffe, which is not an issue brand. They basically make cheap copies of uniform items that are not authorized. Notice SG doesn't even mention the brand in the ad?

SG is notorious for calling anything associated with the military as "surplus" even when it is not.

You're wrong. I've been wearing soffee sand tees on active duty for the past 5 years now. Way more comfortable than the shit issued to us and soffee is sold at military clothing stores on base. Nothing in the regs states you have to wear a certain brand, just has to be the right color, which these are.

These shirts were never issued. Therefore they cannot be surplus. SG calls anything and everything associated with the military "surplus." It is outright fraud.

Also, sand is only authorized for a few more months unless you are guard/reserve.

Doesn't matter if they were issued or not. Surplus MREs were not issued.

Military surplus-goods that are sold or otherwise disposed of when no longer needed by the military.

Surplus-an amount of something left over when requirements have been met; an excess of production or supply over demand.

In other words-Shit the military no longer wants. Brand new unused computers can be Military Surplus.

But...if these were never the militaries property to begin with, then they can not be Military Surplus.

It does matter. MREs are surplus if they are purged from the supply system and not surplus if they were never procured in the first place. At that point, they are just regular ass commercial goods.

Those shirts were never needed or issued by the military. They are made by a commercial entity for the commercial market.

SG is intentionally using the term surplus to deceive people. Go to their surplus section and browse. Half of the stuff was never procured by the military at all. They just call it surplus to deceive people. They even put "never issued" knowing the items were never military items to begin with.

MREs are made FOR the US Government by many companies. MREs are already the US Government's property. If they refuse them because they have too much, they are still Military Surplus. As far as these Gildan T-shirts, if they are base exchange merchandise that was no longer needed, and base exchange merchandise is Government property, then one could say these are Military Surplus items. But until you research invoices, you can't say one way or another.

The shirts are soffee, not Gildan.

Companies make stuff all the time. Sometimes for contracts. Sometimes not.

I can definitely say one way or the other. If there was no contract for these specific items, they are not surplus.

Also, government does not necessarily equal military. Many MREs end up as USAID rather than class 1 issued by some warehouse on post.

"Also, government does not necessarily equal military. Many MREs end up as USAID rather than class 1 issued by some warehouse on post."

Now you are being silly. The MREs that are made for the Army/soldiers...If you receive these as aid you can't say they are Military rations because a civilian is eating them? LOL!

The reviews say they are Gildan. The description also says Imported. Gilday is Canadian while Soffe is an American brand. They must be selling or have sold both.

the sand color is really light coffee

Love the color as is different from anything else available. My shirts are 100% cotton labeled Gildan, a world recognized name. They are great for crafting as brand is sold at Michael's for printing and appliques.

"Notice SG doesn't even mention the brand in the ad?"
It is right on the picture. But how old is the picture? This review says they are American made. And that would mean made by Soffe another American company.

Good Deal

Good fit, American made, quality work tee. Light color good for summer. Ad indicated they were rejects, but I found none.

Another says they were NOT made in the USA...so not Soffe

Good Price!!!

Good Price, shirts seemed a little stiff out of the bag but after washing they came out very soft and comfortable!! I am giving four stars, would have given five if they were made in the USA!

All in all, no matter the brand, most everyone seems to be happy with their purchase. Whether they are Military Surplus or not, I don't think most will actually care one way or another. Wear for a few weeks/months then discard.

"BRADSHIP" and "SH1244" are one time use only. Too many restrictions, membership fee went up,,,,,,,. What's going on SG?

"Coupon BRADSHIP can be used 1 time(s).
You have used the coupon 1 time(s) already so it will not be applied to this order."

I read somewhere that they sold out to a larger company. They will become more and more shady until all their customers leave, at which point they will be calling everything they sell "surplus" even though it will all be cheap Chinese copies.
