  • Be warned the rifles are pretty rough finish wise. It still shoots like a 10/22 should. I'm not sure if all 10/22s coming off the line look like this now?

  • So saw this add and wanted to buy one, $250 for a 10/22 is a good deal right? I'm local to the store but wanted to make sure they were in stock before I made the 30 minute drive. So I called the store, someone answered, do you have these in stock? "We don't carry those," says you have them in your store and they're in stock online. "What's is called?" 10/22 woodsman, "is that a bolt gun?" No it's a semiautomatic, would you like the SKU to look it up? I'm looking at it on your website. "Sure, give it to me, nope we don't carry that." Okay thanks for your time, so I order it online, then went to the store. Boxes of them behind the counter, amazing the employees don't trip over all of them. So after waiting awhile to be helped, I heard people saying they had been waiting 45 minutes. Hey I would like to purchase one of those, the guy I spoke to on the phone said, "yall don't carry those." By the way, I need to cancel my online order. Helpful guy takes my order number to the back, he comes back a couple of minutes later, no one back there can cancel the order, I'll have to try and do it Monday. So I go ahead and purchase the 10/22 that has caused such problems. It's not the quality you would expect from a Ruger 10/22, the stock is either wrapped or poorly painted, has almost bubbles it looks like in the finish and feels very cheaply assembled. The finish on the receiver almost seems like it was painted over from the factory. When I removed the top screws to install the mount for a scope, the top screws had been painted over. Anyways it's a Ruger 10/22 for $250, crappy painted stock and all. If I wasn't local, already in the store, and went through all the hassle, I would have passed. Before having one shipped to your FFL I would spend a little more and get something nicer. If anyone is considering buying one I can try to add pictures if it will let me. PS the guy that checked me out was helpful and the only positive experience from all this.

Ultimately I was already there, had already went through all the hassel, and it's a 10/22 for $250. I plan on it being just something for my son to be able to shoot at around 25yds or less. The stock is what it is, could always replace the stock with one of the many upgrades offered. Still trying to cancel the online order with them. Have probably called over 20 times in the last 2 days and when I was there in the store yesterday, "no one was there that could cancel a order." Phone rings twice, goes to voice-mail, they don't return calls. Check out their BBB rating, customer service is put on blast and the owner just makes excuse after excuse. This was my second time doing business at SMGA and it will definitely be my last! I get everywhere in America is understaffed but you'll just have to go into the store and see it for yourself or try to get someone to answer the phone and actually be able to help you. I'm sure I will ultimately have to end up calling my credit card company and get them involved which will be another hassel.

So i actually bought this gun in store when they released them at $300. So kind of bitter that I could have waited and saved $50. I can concur the stock is like painted on and kind of splotchy in spots and the receiver looks like heavy spray paint coated. The etching letters are like filled in by the paint. It's not like the rugers from years ago. I got the gun because I love woodland camo and something my son can have when I'm gone.

Yep, understood. A decent deal with ridiculous service. Fortunately I don't have their store nearby to tempt me. Reminds me of incompetent Sportsman's Warehouse but at least Sportsman's tries. Thanks for the update. I won't be ordering one.

Thanks for the review. Certainly goofy sounding store service but not too unusual in current gun sales market with transient employee situation. I understand that you ultimately went to the store and located the gun, noted the quality, and still made the purchase. Why did you buy it in that condition? Was it worth $250? Please post pics if able. I appreciate the feedback and trust the gun at least operates properly. Ruger still has a full lifetime warranty on those I believe, unless SMEGMA voided it somehow.
