Wilson Combat complete High Performance AR Upper Receiver Units use the same top tier components, skilled gunsmith assembly and final finishing as their prized custom AR rifles that they have expertly built since 1999. The Wilson Combat machined, hand polished, match grade stainless barrel is the core of these accurate and reliable upper units that will turn your lower into a custom AR rifle well equipped for hunting, duty or tactical competition. Other Wilson Combat components like the versatile and lightweight M-LOK rail, Q-Comp muzzle device and Nickel Boron coated bolt carrier assembly will ensure that your upper exceeds your cosmetic and performance expectations. Each Wilson Combat High Performance custom upper is test fired and finished in Armor-Tuff coating and is certified to drop on and function with any mil-spec, AR lower unit.
When light weight, fast-handling and Wilson reliability is what you demand in your next carbine, you need a Ranger. The lightweight barrel taper shaves almost seven ounces off the Recon model and converts your AR-15 into an easy to carry rifle for long days in the field without any loss in practical accuracy.
The 300 HAM'R was developed for optimal terminal performance in a standard AR rifle - and offers near .308 Winchester effectiveness while exceeding the ballistics of the famous 30-30 rifle - the most popular hunting cartridge of all time. The 300 HAM'R cartridge has 18% more retained velocity, 40% more energy and a 56% flatter trajectory than the 300 BLACKOUT at 200 yards! The 300 HAM'R has amazing accuracy and low recoil in a lightweight, compact standard AR platform rifle that uses a standard 5.56 Bolt. We recommend a 300 Blackout magazine for best overall reliablilty. Ammuntion and reloading dies/info is available from Wilson Combat.

That’s unfortunately pretty much the going rate of 300 Blackout too right now. These are the times we’re in. May not make sense for you, but others do not have the same hesitation. 125CPR isn’t terrible for the ballistics of the 300 HAM’R compared to other rounds, and you don’t need bucketloads of ammo if you’re using it to hunt - 50-100 rounds at the most in order to harvest each animal.
Why would you need 50-100 rounds to harvest an animal? One box of hunting ammo should last a full season or two.
Am I the only one who uses the same ammo to sight in my firearm and practice ahead of time so I actually hit what I’m aiming at?
If you find the barrel in stock through Wilson Combat’s store, you could assemble all these pieces and put it together yourself, saving around $100-$150.
Here is a SS 300 Ham'r barrel in stock.

I think you are right, if you purchased this barrel and mid grade upper components you would be $550-$600 for a complete upper.
At a $1.25 a round it doesn’t make any sense.
