based on specs this isn't much different than a PSA upper which can be had for $399. Hard for me to think the chrome lined barrel, different branding and "hand built assembly" warrant the $380 price increase

If the $399 PSA upper you reference is the following:

http://palmettostatearmory.com/index.php/ar15-days-of-christmas/ar-15-uppers-rifle-build-kits/ptac-16-1-9-a4-ss12g2-upper-w-bcg-ch.html...

Then there are some critical differences:
• PTAC not PSA build
• Non-FN CHF barrel
• Carbine length vs. Mid-length
• Need to verify which PTAC BCG it comes with (One PTAC BCG does not use a carpenter 158 bolt, but a 8620 bolt) the $89 version, or the cheaper $69 (all 8620) version
• BCM Mod 4 CH (may or may not make a difference to some, but $45'ish dollars)

PSA does have an FN barreled version of this, however, it is a bit more expensive (and is not the CHF version, which is the next step up from PSA's 'premium' FN barrel):

http://palmettostatearmory.com/index.php/featured/m4-ss12g2-16-cmv-chrome-lined-stripped-railed-upper-without-bcg-or-charging-handle.html...

• Premium 4150 FN barrel (but not cold hammer forged - that is the next step up in PSA barrel schema)
• No bolt carrier group or charging handle

Now, all that said, the MWI is putting a bit of a price premium compared to what you could get from PSA if you can find the PSA version, IN STOCK, with FN's CHF barrel (or go a bit lower with a 'premium (non-CHF)' FN barrel version. The price difference is going to be less than the $380 listed, but it would still end up a savings. I'd grab the PSA FN CHF version, if you can find it in stock (or the 'Premium' FN 4150 barrel version). I own several PSA uppers (both 'premium' FN barrel and CHF FN barrel uppers) and have been very, very pleased with their build quality, performance, and accuracy.

yes, got to look at all details. The BCM charging handle is $45 alone on BCM website.. add shipping, blah.. you would have to pay a lot to build same upper. For some odd reason about PSA though.. most (if not all) their railed uppers are carbine length gas systems. This is midlength. Midwest is good stuff. But too pricey for me.
