I almost bought a 5.27x28 upper. but I couldn't find any video tests except the EAA rifles that fire them. They demolish cinder blocks like wet newspaper.

Loaded up on these during the 12.99 PSA price two weeks ago. Even with about $1 per box in shipping it is worth it.

Fair price for this ammo. But wouldn't it be nice to see some 5.7 other than the AE or blue tip for once? Pretty sure the fiveseven pistol wasn't intended for the 40g loads and mine has not been reliable with it.

Mine shoots fine with the 40gr v-max. Are you having issues with the v-max or the FMJ?

only run 3 boxes through that gun. first box of vmax, 1 issue, second vmax 3-4 issues, third AE i think was just 1 issue. cant recall if it was FTF or FTE since it was 7-8 months ago. i read that it is not uncommon for a new fiveseven to have issues with the 40g until it is well broken in and used because the 40g was intended for the rifles. couple guys on one of the dedicated fiveseven forums had said that. they were telling me i need to leave the gun with the slide locked back for a week or two but that sounds dumb to me because a quality made spring used within its designed range of travel does not start to loosen up or sag from simply holding it compressed for a week or two. if that was the case, all of our cars would be dragging on the ground after a few months.

i went ahead and ordered 500 rounds of this stuff so i wont feel bad trying it again. the damn gun shoots so low i dont know if ill ever get used to it. i didnt get the fixed sight model cause i didnt like how the fixed sights look... now im regretting that. which is apparently another common side effect of the 40g...

Ironic I read the exact opposite that the gun works best broken in with the 40gr before using the 27gr. Either way you are right it isn't uncommon for brand new five seven to have issues before being broken in but I find that too be true with most new pistols. Most break in periods is 200 rds but FNH recommends 500!! I was lucky, my five seven probably has about 250 rds through it, mix of AE 40gr, SS197sr v-max and SS198lf 27gr without a single hiccup.

Either way you are right, the POI between 27gr and 40gr is dramatically different! At 15 yards the 40gr is about 2" lower and slightly to the left. Having adjustable sights is a must if you plan on shooting both kinds. The sights have a huge margin so you should be able to zero it in. I'm 90% certain the fixed sights model is zeroed for the 27gr bullets

maybe ill will have to take a file to my front sight :)

On mine I have the iron sights zeroed for the 40gr since they are the most common and cheapest to shoot, and a Viridian laser set for the 27gr. That way I can shoot both accurately and I can always dial the irons back to the 27gr since they recommend those for SD. Either way I would also feel pretty confident with the full mag of v-max.

due to my experience with my gun... I do not think I would choose mine for any SD. Its more of a toy. Perhaps one day if mine loosens up and stops having problems... and that will only happen if I can increase how often I shoot it... and that means increasing enjoyment, which will mean either the lighter ammo will have to become available, or I will have to get new sights for it.

It's not cheap but elite ammunition can change out your sights to any kind you want including night sights. I also recommend their accurizing (glorified trigger job) also expensive but worth it. Mine had a 7+ lbs trigger which was almost impossible to shoot accurately. Even after I still wouldn't call it a target trigger by any means but it's a huge improvement!

I will look into it. Now that I have some ammo coming in for this pistol I will think about shooting it some more. Luckily I have a full CNC machine shop, so it is not out of my scope to build myself a new set of sights for the pistol. But I dont think it will come to that. After I take it back out and decide exactly how much I want to raise the POI.. I believe it will probably just end up requiring light modification to the front sight, or worst case, making a new front sight.
