This 223 Rem ammo is not mil-spec, nor is it military surplus. It is manufactured at the Lake City Army Ammunition Plant according to SAAMI specs, however, so it exhibits the quality components and high tolerances you need to do things right at the rifle range.
This round’s FMJBT projectile is hardened by a copper jacket to prevent jamming or deformation, and its tapered base enables it to retain greater velocity and resist getting pushed off course by crosswinds. Loaded to a muzzle velocity of 3,240 fps its ballistic performance is essentially apples to apples the same as the Army’s M193 load.
This round’s new brass case cycles and reloads without issue, and its propellant burns clean to keep any weapon in better shape. Its Boxer primer is not military-grade, so your firing pin won’t have to punch extra hard to ignite it!
