Anybody else remember when these were $500 shipped about a year ago?

I bought the M92 with 2 mags for $429 plus free shipping

Weren't these just on sale for $445.00 like last month?

Cugir announced earlier this year that they were cutting back on sporting firearms until all their military contracts are fulfilled.

Why do you think WASRs are near $700? With none coming in for the near future, the supply side of the equation is not favorable for Romania's top sporting firearms.

Love this little gun but check inside the grip, mine was full of cosmoline. Found that out after leaving it in a hot car.

Any idea what kind of rear trunion this has in it?

0 votes
0 votes

The rear trunnion as you call it is a receiver block. The options are getting lucky and it being a standard UF trunnion where all you have to do is mill out the receiver, or

its a virgin UF block and you must mill it out for an UF stock, or

cutting it out and replacing it with at "tang" rear trunnion, or

drilling and tapping it for an ACE pig nose or similar.

If you choose to cut it out and replace it, you will need to weld some or all of the rivet holes and re-drill new ones. Also, it warrants mentioning that you can't cut the serial number.

Remember, this is constructive intent for the BATF so make sure you already have the SBR paper work before you do anything.

No portion of this is legal advice, check your own laws, YMMV.

Used the "Four Pay Plan" to buy. You get the gun now and pay a fourth for 4 months and SG lets you know when they debit your credit card and when the next payment will be debited.

Regarding peening on the bolt of Zastavas, does it make sense to replace the bolt with a military surplus one? I have several Zastava aks and now am concerned about this. Forgive me if this is an ignorant question, don't know enough about the subject. Have to say, I'm thinking of going all Romanian after reading the posts here.

1 vote

It's bullshit. Won't harm the gun. If it "scares" you that much, put in a Zastava hammer.

SG will rip you off. False advertising. Consider yourself warned.

0 votes
3 votes

Could you be more specific why its false advertising? I read somewhere were the muzzle brake was wrong or something wasn't listed properly with this from SG? I would like to order but don't want any unwanted surprises. Thanks.

I'm calling bullshit. I have several transactions with them and they went great.

Maybe you got burned once, (for a quality business, once is one too many) but I'm sure there is more to the story than you are telling us.

Don't confuse this as a request to hear the rest of your sad story; most probably don't care seeing as how you already made a statement about them with no collaborating evidence.

After all this is the internet, you can say all you want even if you have never bought anything from them.

We don't consider ourselves warned by you, we consider ourselves trolled by you.

I know I'm late to the convo, but...

I order some 5 rd ar mags. The picture shows mags that are suppose to sit flush, or close to, the mag well. The ones I got are the 10/15 rd mags that are capped off by some plastic inside. The whole reason why I got them because I want it flushed. Of course I was able to return them free with no restocking fee.

Heading says "AK-47". Description says "AK-45". Hyper link to Sportsman's Guide description "AK-45". Is it 7.62x39 or .223? Does it take batteries, do windows or make a good sandwich?

Yes it is an incorrect picture to the description but regardless I would recommend looking at an m92 pap instead for a few peanut$ more you will thank yourself.

I agree with this. I got a M92 that is well fit and finished. Also pretty accurate if you can hold it steady. Great for SBR project. This picture as pointed out below is a for .223, not 7.62x39.

No peening on the bolt yet?

When you finally get around to shooting it as much as I do, you'll get peening on the bolt and realize Zastava screwed up the heating treating.

We're talking Cugir, here folks. Zastava fanboys come from around two years ago right about the time of SH.

It was just luck of timing that M92s were everywhere and Dracos were out of stock for a long time. (Think importing cycle not instant demand. In the era of amazon, most people don't understand the difference.)

Ignore what people on the internet say. (Myself included - ignore what I say also.) Own one of each and you will know for certain. The Draco is better.

You'll also see hardness testing results that show this is not a heat treat issue.

The peening is from the shape of the Tapco G 2hammer, which this gun wasn't designed for. If you do some searching, this is discussed at length on many forums, including pics of the same bolt peening on Arsenals, Saigas, Wasrs, etc.
Shave that hammer down like shown on the forums and stick a wolff high power spring in and your bolt will last longer than you.

0 votes

In general yes the Tapco and American hammers with incorrect profiles can lead to peening/mushrooming of the bolt carrier BUT... The M92 and Draco have 0, count them 0 American parts. They are pistols and not subject to 922R and need no US parts to be compliant, they come untouched by century.

Thanks James Yeager. The G2 trigger is not the problem because I and most people not new to AKs have been running them for thousands and thousands and thousands of rounds.

Now that Century is trying to make money selling their own, in house, trigger, G2 is shit?

You don't find it funny that the G2 smear campaign started the exact same time that Century release their own FCG for sale?

You are absolutely wrong!

And to think you are recommending a high powered spring over a factory combloc one is ridiculous. It is an AK, it should last longer than you will last as originally designed.

Clearly you drank the century kool-aid, so how about this:

Get whatever you want, I can't see if from my house, so what do I care?

Just stop spreading misinformation to others, okay?

0 votes
0 votes

not to bust your balls, but the zastava papcrap is all 'from a combloc factory' and its still sub par. that was one of the selling pts tho, that the pertinent parts were not american... so in general your blurb about springs is probably correct, but you never know until you stress test and even then.. you still dont know.. just another reason to own all the guns you can afford

ps i have a pap92 that came from century with a non-g2 trigger which i believe is from serbia... i cant speak to a high round count stress test, but the feel of the trigger certainly sux compared to a g2 < IMO >

I don't really understand what it is you are advocating for with your post, but thanks for contributing to the conversation!

I highly disagree. My M92 has a canted front sight, and peening on the bolt. Being a pistol, it came straight from Zastava without Century wrenching on it.

This is a much better pistol.

I think the picture is of the .223 version. I may be mistaken, however ive never seen an Ak47 mag with such a straight mag (very little curve to it). Forgive me if im wrong...just something to inquire about before ordering. Good luck!!

It took them 10 days to tell me that they were having problems with the postal service...a gun shop with no postal service is like a gun without bullets, I cancel the order and call Kentucky Guns in a few hours I got the ready to ship alert via email...that's what I call good service !

From their zip code to mine, the UPS.com shipping calculator says $53 (2 day Air with insurance). J&G web site says $51. As tempting as it is to cry foul, they are not pumping up shipping costs. Shipping via air is big $$$. For nearby folks, the lower price is probably because UPS doesn't actually put it on a plane.

$53 to ship. Plus the $25 transfer fee and evil eye from the local shop for online buying. Brings my total to $508. I'll pass on this one.

36 dollars to ship two states away to Idaho. Seems way too much to ship. I guess I will wait and see if anything changes. Was ready to purchase. At least J&G keeps my wife and wallet happy.

1 vote
0 votes

I agree, J&G costs too much to ship to distant customers, but your experience didn't prove J&G is pocketing shipping costs. It just looks to me like they need to shop around for a better deal.

EDIT: when I respond with an inline reply, it puts the response on the top, at east when I reply on my phone. It doesn't do that when I use my computer. My apologies.

Dunno what to tell ya. I'm just glad I'm close. Shipping for me isn't bad at all.

0 votes

They ship UPS like I did. Package is abt the same weight and size.. hard to draw a different picture than them overcharging or adding a "handling fee" which is the same thing.

0 votes
0 votes

Actually, I don't believe that's true. I don't buy that J&G is pocketing shipping costs. It's always quite reasonable for their shipping to nearby Utah, where I am. I think they probably should select an alternative shipping method, but I honestly doubt they are doing anything sneaky.

I shipped a M92 ak pistol to oregon (so much farther) and it was much cheaper. I think I paid closer to $25.

No way it cost them $51 to ship it a shorter distance AND they have their business discount.

0 votes
0 votes

Actually with UPS it is possible. I frequently ship things to smaller towns around NC (I also live in NC) and it can cost double what it costs to ship a large city in another state. I think it depends on the routes and distances from their "hubs."

1 vote
0 votes

buahahah!! $51.05 shipping to southeast.

so $481

Last time I bought one of these I paid $399!

J&G sales doesn't pay that in shipping. They do this so that can get more money and list a low price.

0 votes

That shipping kills everything they have. Jesus 54 dollars to ship I might as well drive there and ship it back myself via ups for cheaper.

Prepare to have your order cancelled and wait and wait wait for your refund. Stay away far far from them and don't waste your time!

You stole my words. I am done with this website. They will not see my money regardless of pricing. If everybody vote with their money, companies like this would go out of business.

Hmm.. If I already own an m92 would there be any reason to own one of these dracos other than for collecting? It seems the pap m92 is a better buy cause the m92 is more compact and a better build with a better finish.

0 votes
0 votes

They may not have a better finish or be as compact but they are built better in a military factory with better barrels. I have one and 2 m92s.

Also was the person who typed this description on crack? And buds also posted the wrong image. My last purchase fron buds will be my last from them until they get their shit together
