Scorpions are known for living long lives and having over 400 million years of evolutionary history. They are found living on 6 of 7 continents and are designed to survive even the harshest conditions on both ends of the spectrum. They’re rugged, resilient, and as dangerous as they are ferocious looking. Which is why the scorpion was the ideal spirit animal for the OSO (Outdoor Survival Ops) Bowie/Karambit hybrid knife.

Forged out of high carbon high chromium D2 tool steel the Scorpion Knife is as tough and rugged as its namesake. Boasting a full tang and sandwiched between CNC machine checkered G10 slip-resistant scales to make up the exoskeleton of this knife. The scorpion knife comes equipped with both serrated and non-serrated versions both of which come with a drop-point style blade. The Karambit style grip with finger retention ring make this ideal for maintaining a secure grip for all knife uses from bushwhacking, survival, hunting, skinning, and if you are truly gnarly knife fighting.

OSO kept laser-focused attention to detail during the creation of this blade equipping it with thumb texture in multiple locations to minimize risk of the knife slipping and causing injury. The D2 steel blade also holds an edge and stays sharper longer than other materials as OSO subscribes to the adage “a dull knife is a dangerous knife,” and a knife branded with a logo of a scorpion is not one that can lose an edge quickly. Additionally, OSO believes that using D2 steel for an outdoor survival knife was the ideal intersection between corrosion resistance and strength. But if bare D2 steel isn’t enough OSO offers the same blades treated with a Titanium Nitride finish which increases both the hardness corrosion resistance, all while as giving it a sleek stonewash black appearance.

To truly understand if the Scorpion Knife can withstand the harsh conditions comparable to those in which a scorpion thrives, OSO had this knife blunt force tested. The Scorpion Knife was able to withstand multiple repeated blows with a sledgehammer while being locked in a vice before product failure.

OSO has paired the Scorpion with a thermoformed Kydex retention sheath. This sheath is heat molded to this exact fit ensuring a secure hold but, like a Scorpion’s tail, is rapidly deployable and can get into action quickly. The sheath has a 9-hole configurable/removable belt clip with a snap-lock button for quickly adding or removing from clothing or gear. The clip has cutouts that would enable webbing to be used with Molle and other tactical gear attachments. The sheath also has 9 steel riveted holes to allow either the belt clip to be repositioned or weave in paracord.

Overall these features and the feel make the Scorpion Bowie/Karambit Hybrid Knife by OSO one dynamic tough piece of equipment to have in the outdoors, and worthy of the scorpion name.
