  • The SCCY CPX2RD is great and not great at the same time. Great because it's forward thinking and is a factory offered red dot sighting gun. not great because the trigger is quite heavy and the red dot it comes with isn't the best. The gun itself - is fine. It shoots very accurately (hole on hole if you do your job) - but the trigger is a double action only trigger at about 8 pounds. If you don't do a lot of trigger pulling there's a good chance that's a hard one to manage. The red dot - as I mentioned - isn't great. It is an auto adjusting dot - meaning it sets the brightness automatically - and it doesn't do a great job. On a summer day the dot has a hard time keeping up if you live in southern states. The dot does fine indoors - shows up great in low light scenarios - way better than night sights - but as a recreational gun you'll find yourself wanting to turn up the dot - and you can't. The magazines are affordably priced, there are holsters out there for it. If you can find one - they're cool guns.

I purchased two of these, one for each of my daughters. I enjoyed shooting it so much I purchased one for myself. Is it a Glock? Is it a Sig? But is it a Hi point? The answer to all of these is a no. However, it has been a good reliable firearm that has shot every kind of ammo I’ve put through it, reasonably accurate, and you can’t beat the price.

I love mine. Had to break it in a bit, but it works perfectly.

Same here, I've had mine about 4 years (when they were under $200) and use my CPX-2 (non-RD model) as a truck/car pistol...not as a primary carry. But it's reliable...IF you get working magazines. Sccy has had some quality control issues on the magazines for the CPX series so you need to test fire all magazines you may acquire. They (mags) either work well in the pistol out of the package, or not. In my case about 50% had reliability issues, but Sccy has a good warranty and customer service, so if any issues, call & they will send you a mailing label and replace the mags free of charge. I know it's a pain and I wouldn't tolerate it from major gun makers, but for a back-up pistol made by a small company I was willing to deal with some attrition. YMMV.

Talk about lipstick on a pig. That optic is worth twice the pistol itself. Every SCCY pistol Ive shot or owned were crap!

I bought one, hated it as it jammed ALOT. Took one on a trade deal and thought Id give that one a try... same issues. Sold both..Then a buddy of mine brought one out during a day shooting out in the woods...his did the same crap. so yeah 3x no go...
