Just ordered another 250 rounds. I shot 50 rounds last week and they are clean and no failures. This is still the best .45ACP deal going.

I hope they don't get rid of the ammo but last I heard Cabela's is getting rid of the Herter's brand with Cabela's branding taking over the firearms products (Bass Pro taking the fishing related stuff).
I think the Herter's brand ammo is being discontinued, slowly clearanced (how much of this stuff do they have warehoused/contracted?) & don't expect to see Cabela's brand ammo myself though I will definitely miss the pistol ammo.
Since Bass Pro the following calibers have intermittently or permanently disappeared from the Herter's pistol ammo page:
32 ACP, 380 ACP, 38 special, 357 mag?, 45 Long Colt & maybe more. I haven't kept after the rifle ammo but I can't imagine its much different. You will have better luck finding them on store shelves.
Herter's brand over the years has dabbled in other types of ammo like steel cased ammo by tula? (gold box), aluminum cased with blue nylon jackets by blazer (grey box), etc.
Also the elusive pistol JHP versions (red box) have never been on the site except for a few rifle calibers but pop up in store every so often over the years.
If there is a herters brand product you want get it before its gone, a cabela's branded version may not replace it. You can ask a cabela's employee to look up a product by its IK# on the little handheld PDA's(?) they can check inventory on, best if they have worked there a while & know the terminology it uses to indicate whats going on with the product stocking (its terminology is a good indicator).

I just ordered 5 more boxes for my long term storage. I really like scrubbing my handguns from excessive carbon build up and tar and that is why I reload my .45 ACP with Alliant Red Dot. A dirty gun is a happy gun.

Ordered 10 boxes came to $127. Damn tax was $8. Def good deal still. MAGA

Great price on good ammo I ordered up 200 rounds. I don't recall seeing .45 ACP ever under $12.00 per box.

If you like scrubbing your weapon from the excessive carbon build up then buy away, I will not make the same mistake twice..

S&B doesnt make dirty ammo, compared to winchester and ppu. You sure you are shooting the same shit we all are? Excellent plinking ammo. For $11.88/box of 45acp plinking rounds, yup. Also, 308 and 30.06 is $9.88 box/20rds for hunting rounds. Im that asshole that makes cabelas ship $50 purchases to keep the shipped box size down. If i just ordered a few thousands rounds, how many seperate purchases did i just make? Cableas has sucked since Bass Pro took them over. Question is, why is Cabelas blowing out the prices on Herters brand ammo? Is it to formerly kill of the Herters name?

What does keeping the shipped box size down accomplish? As for Cabelas "sucking" since their Bass Pro merger or buyout or whatever it happens to be, as it pertains to ammo, I've seen zero difference in their pricing/sales, and as others have pointed out, $11.88/box on a 50-count box .45acp with free shipping for orders above $50 is fantastic. They're now also offering the identical price .40 ammo. If this deal "sucks" I hope they continue to suck.

Keeping the box size down prevents cabelas from not packing the ammo tight (like they do in small boxes) and prevents loose rounds from rolling around inside and/or a open package missing rounds. Just something i have learned shopping at Cabelas for over a decade.

I'm currently waiting for prices to plummet around Christmas

You still waiting.....lol? 62 months later and they have plummeted to an all time low... 1/2019.

4 Boxes in the cart, shipping was $12.95 and $6.xx in tax total was $106 something making this .54 cpr...

I'll wait till it's $15 a box like it should be.

Make it a sale price of $12.99ea. and I'll buy 20 boxes.

That would be a "slick" deal...

Makes ya wonder why this is even here doesn't it?

I'm close to a Cabelas so I don't have to pay shipping and 21.99 maybe a little steep but I haven't bought decent, brass cased .45acp for less than $20 a box in well over 24 months. I considered myself lucky to find the 100 round white boxes at Wal-Mart for $38.95.
