Although I agree with you in that this is expensive, a measuring cup would show you what 2 fluid ounces would look like, which is a measure of volume. A scale would show you what 2 ounces look like, which is a measure of weight. Although these two things sound similar, they are very different. Two ounces of weight would look much bigger than two fluid ounces of food.
There are some cases in which 2 fluid ounces would appear larger than two ounces of weight but those are rare and would only happen in substances with high density and relatively low mass, for example lead.
