cool, i bought 40 boxes of 147 gr yesterday, so i would not qualify for rebate any more, but i do think 124gr is the best

Awww, I did the same with the 115gr... Would have preferred the 124gr but with the rebate being tight on when it can be submitted and my order showing shipped (though no shipping email), I don't want to risk cancelling to order this instead.

Edit: Nope, apparently the photo is misleading as it's 115gr only now.

DO NOT BUY THIS GARBAGE!!!

It is the filthiest ammo on the planet. Trust me when I say that.

You can buy CCI Blazer Brass, Fiocchi, and Aquila for $10.92 and many other brands for less than $11.99 w/ free shipping at http://www.sportsmansguide.com/productlist?k=9mm+ammunition&sb=plh...

You can get this cheaper. I wound up paying 12.8 cents/ round after rebates.

Where?

Cheaper at Sportsman's Guide. 227.99 minus the $50.00 rebate= $177.99

Of course, this price is for members only. And as always use a free shipping code.

Take my advice.

WALK AWAY FROM THIS GARBAGE!

This ammunition is the dirtiest stuff you could possibly run through your gun. Worse than Wolf or Tula!

There is absolutely no reason to buy this crap!

You can buy high quality ammo equal to, or less, in price than this - like CCI Blazer, Independence, or Sellier & Bellot or USAC.

Definitely not worth it at this price. Great deal at less than $10 a box when posted in December.

I should have mentioned what you should be buying instead: the names of which make the cleanest buring 9mm ammo on the market at a very competitive price.

My first choice is also the first choice of professionals (and frequent recreational shooters) with a lot more knowledge aboput ammo than I'll ever acquire.

#1 is HPR (which stands for High Precision Range). You can read a review of HPR in Gears of Guns @ http://gearsofguns.com/hpr-ammo-review/...

Although this is a review of .223 AR and .45ACP ammo, HPR is consistent in the amount of attention to detail and quality control applied across all of its rifle and handgun ammunition. Consistency is also found in the chemistry of the propellants and primers and the engineering technology that ensures reliable discharges that are not affected by external conditions.

The reviewer was sent by the company a 50-rnd box of .45ACP 230gr. TMJ Hyperclean and a 50-rnd box of .223 Rem 75gr. Boat-Tail Hollow Points. He put the .45ACP's in a Glock 21 and the .223's in an American Weapons System ZA-15 chambered in .223 Wylde (meaning he could also use 5.56 NATO rounds).

For contrast purposes, the reviewer also used five rounds of Monarch brand .45ACP 230gr. TMJ which rivals the Remington in filthiness. Foprtunately, I was warned ahead of time to not use it - and that caveat came directly fromn S&W who also nixed the use of Fiochhi and Selliet & Bellot. Why they don't like S&B is a mystery to me because they make a line of clean burning, non-toxic rounds and have been in the manufacture of cartidges since 1825, making them one of the oldest manufacturers in the world. Some 40 years later, S&W started a second partnership to market the first revolver with a fully-contained rimfire bullet. I've always read good reviews of S&B.

Anyway, first up in the test of HRP ammunition was the HPR .45ACP. After the reviedwer fired 25 rounds, he stripped the gun down to look for carbon deposits and leftover, unburnt powder. The feed ramp was still shiny and clean. The brass had some slight powder burn that wiped off with a dry towel and just left a normal sight discoloration on the brass, while the inside of the brass looked almost new in coloring. No misfires or feed problems.

After that the reviewer loaded up his Glock with the Monarch Melange of .45ACP 230gr. TMJ (Total Metal Junk) and, the first thing he saw after firing only five rounds was a feed ramp black with carbon and unburnt powder; the brass was coated just like the feed ramp, so much so that his gun required a heavy dose of Outers Nitro Solvent Gun Cleaner to get rid of all the sludge when got home. Basically, what I had to do with my SD9VE after running 50 rounds of Remington Puke Green Box - but with a lot more cleaning than he had to do.

The reviewer concluded that the ammo was also highly accurate. An all-rounmd winnger, IMHO.

You're comparing decent bulk blasting ammo at $12 a box to boutique $20 ammo.

DON'T BUY THIS FILTHY CRAP!

I used to think that Wolf, Tula, and Monarch were the dirtiest 9mm you could buy. I was wrong. I shot ONE 50-round box of this drek and the money I thought that I'd be saving wsas spent on four hours of cleaning out all of trhe gunk deep inside my SD9VE. That's a $300 gun. If you're thinking of putting this in a Glock, XD(m), or any handgun twice the price, you'll be sending your fine piece of machinery to the shop before you can say "Yuk!"

No amount of savings is worth trashing your pistol - and I'm not exaggerating. If you want to turn your $600 9mm into a $200 one - this will do it. If you enjoy spending hours, literally, cleaning out every millimeter of your gun - especially all of the parts too critical to fail (or as Hammer says, "Too legit to quit") - then this the "savings of a life time" - a shortened lifetime of your gun, that is.

Before I finished firing 50 rounds though my BRAND NEW SD, I noticed that the accuracy started to decline at Round #30. When I got to the last mag, the last 15 were flying all over creation.

A dirty gun barrel alone can do that. Not to mention the dirty striker pin, trigger springs, takedown lever spring, sear spring, trigger bsar, striker block, and everything else from there on back to the slide plate.

This was a "50-round torture test." The nicest thing I could say about it is that, when used in a clean gun, it was accurate, with very little recoil and muzzle flip, and because of its wide and deep extractor groove (which is why I chose it over Independence), it cycled and fired just fine. And continued to do so after depositing more soot than you'd see on a chimney sweep.

One extra feature it provided was a chance to test ohut how well my new cleaning supplies really worked. I ditched every cleaner and lubricant with the Hoppes label on it - especially the God-awful smelling Hoppe's #9 (which would be the antithesis of Love Potion #9) and kept from mky Hoppe's cleaning kit just the rod, the end attachments, and copper cleaning pads that are as thin as single ply troilet tissue (or, if you wanted to compare it to a piece of Bounty paper towel, this would be "Muting on the Bounty." The 1" square patches are even thinner and are only good for one wipe, one time, in a small space (two, if you're really miserly and turn it oner). IMO, I wouldn't want to put on my cleaning attachment what comes off on those patches.

The most effective attachments I used to ensure that my barrel would be back in action was a wire brush and a cotton brush. Of course, trying to find anything intended to fit 9mm always seem to be out-of-stock in wholesale stores like Academy, Walmart, Dicks, etc., and the other stores that might carry them are too far to drive. So, if anything made Amazon, Ebay, or any other online store the Numero Uno place to stock up on cleaning supplies, owning a 9mm makes it a necessity.

I use Tetra products. I have already left a review on the Tetra gun Gun Blaster gun cleaner that I could not find anywere in town. So my #1a choice was MPro-7 which, on the basis of its composition is reason enough to buy it: namely, it's hypoallergenic, biodegradable, odorless, stainless, and Heaven to Hoppe's Hell.

But, it also does a super job of loosening the embedded crud and copper along with the surface soot and s**t. I sprayed it down the barrel and also sprayed it directly on my cotton brush (that looks like a giant Q-tip wrapped around a metal shaft). But, before I ran it through my barrel, I used my wire brush to loosen any embedded copper and other metal and non-medtal particulates that may have gotten left behind.

Then, I swappedit out for ther cotton brush which was put in the breech and popped past the crown of the barrel.

More than 1/2" of the cottron brush was as black as coal without a trace of beige brsh showing through. From there to the end of the brush, it was so much cleaner than the front part, I thought that there must be something wrong with the brush.

Nope. The Tetra Gun Cleaner and the cotton brush had gotten out the bulk of the bat guano in that first 1/2" - so much so, that after another squirt of Tetra Gun Cleaner down the barrel, followed by five more run-throughs (in both directions) with the large cleaning pads made the 5th pad come out as clean as it went in.

After cleaning the barrel, I coated the inside with MPro-7 Gun Oil. I also use Tetra Gun Oil, that I love, but I thought I'd try out the MPro-7 and compare it to the Tetra. Without doing some type of empirical friction test, I'd say that MPro-7 is initially as slippery as the Tetra Oil and has a better nozzle for pinpoint application (which is a moot point since I filled up a 20cc syringe with Tetra for doing pinpoint oiling). The MPro-7 has a higher viscosity than the Tetra - meaning that it will flow into tight spaces easier than the Tetra, but won't remain on the oiled surface for as long as the Tetra does.

Hands down, nothing beats Tetra Gun Grease, a synthetic lithium-based lubricant that has a molecular composition small enough to fill up anymicroscopic manufacturing imperfections like little pockmarks and scratches that frequently appear in both molded and extruded metal parts. The proper usage of the grease is to place a dab the size of a grape seed inside the groove and on the top of each of the four rail corners in the frame, and then, with a cotton patch, run it back & forth to work the grease into the metal until what's left is a virtually invisible layer of lube on which your slide will glide like a new pair of Florsheims on a just waxed floor.

I sprayed the Tetra Gun Cleaner on the inside of the slide and used a disposable toothbrush (that I collect from hotels & motels on overnight trips) to gently clean the surface areas and also work it into the tight spots. It turned the new, white bristles into jet black bristles, and after a few in-between dunks in 90% isopropyl alcohol to clean off the crap on tyjhe brush, I was done with the loosening part of the cleaning process, and proceeded to wipe up every last bit of it with the cotton swaps, both big and small.

Fr an ammo review, I apologize for inserting a lengthy cleaning routine - but there was a reason for doing so, if you plan on buying a box of the Green Monster to see for yourself if my observations are full of soot rather than the gun from which you're firing these mini-chimneys.

If you do happen to get a stovepipe, this is one brand of ammo where the word will not just be a metaphor, but an accurate description of the exhaust pipe from a Franklin potbelly.

To paraphrase a well-known maxim:

"It's worth its weight in brass."

If you want to buy an inexpensive 9mm round that is also one of the top defensive rounds on the market

Yes way! Order date from cabelas:12/10/2014 at $9.76 shipped. I total order two orders of 9 boxes, should have ordered more but already gotten 500 rounds from freedom before this sale came out.

No way. This has been the lowest price in two years. They started at $16.99 in june 2013. then went to $13.99 in october 2013 back to $14.99 in 2014 . on sale now at $12.99

The same item is used for different pricing here at SG. Yesterday this was marked as back in stock and the price updated. Last time, I got a really good deal on the JHP 9mm rounds, although Cabelas took forever getting it shipped out to me and shipped it in multiple boxes, which was really weird.

Even so, it was a really good deal for the Remington JHP's and makes for great carry ammo in my Diamondback DB9, which isn't rated for +P.

WTF??? My first order was deleted without notification and my card is still showing a pending charge. #nothappy

EDIT - NEVERMIND. It didn't show in the "my orders" screen but was available when searching by order number #falsealarm

Looks like Cabelas has raised the price on all of the Remington ammo at this link. I got some of the 9mm JHP's--6 boxes, or 300 rounds, for $86 shipped. Should have grabbed some of the 9mm FMJ while I had the chance. Oh well, still happy to get the non +P JHP's, which my Diamondback DB9 likes (and it's not rated for the +P ammo--it's not terribly easy to find good non +P JHP ammo).

20 cents a round shipped to my door from Cabelas?? Shocked and in for 9 boxes. They must be feeling the heat from other retailers to go that low. Good sign for the gun guys.

I think "free in store pick up" is funny. I mean who charges for in store pickup? In reality "free in store pick up" is just another way of saying "plus shipping" for most people.

1 vote

that works almost as well as pay as you exit as a sales technique

0 votes

Free in Store pick up means, instead of paying shipping charges, pay SALES TAX instead. :)

2 votes
0 votes

The free in-store pickup means no shipping charge. I've done that a number of times to get .22LR online, but not pay shipping. Paying shipping on a couple boxes of .22LR (your limit!) kills the deal price.

And, yes, you do have to pay sales tax, but if you order online and Cabelas has a store in your state, you have to pay sales tax anyway, so by paying shipping, you're not saving sales tax anyway.

Why don't these listings appear on cabelas own website? Am I missing something here? Pretty much 8 out of 10 postings for cabelas don't show up unless you access it through slick guns.

Who is a sponsor of gun.deals and makes piles of cash off shipping with these deals with Limits.....cha ching, cha ching.......and its still $2 per box over what it should be...no deal

I got 9mm hundred round boxes for $29/easy and I got some herters brass for $14/box from cabelas the other day... but this is till a decent deal.

store pickup would be a decent deal of course. I might do it for store pickup if I were desperate like you say you are, hell yes I would. F shipping prices :)

16.99 a box stinks believe me. I did not pay over 15.00 a box since SH and mostly I pay 12.99 or 13.99 all day long and I get in on many many many deals since I shoot roughly 1k rounds a month. Might be hard to believe but it is possible and not bs ammo I am talking top shelf stuff, no reloads.

lol are you serious? They are online almost daily during the week. Last week I picked up 500 rds @ 12.99 a box, then I got 500 rds @ 13.49 a box, lastly on Thursday I got 500 rds for 15.00 even a box. 16.99 a box is shit. you just are not looking hard enough

Man! I guess I'm not looking in the right spots. Feels like I check all day long for ammo, and I don't think I've seen it for under 30 cents a round in a long time. I was hoping this was a good deal on some heavier weight stuff, but after reading all these comments, I guess I'll pass. If someone wouldn't mind helping me out, and letting me know where to get some decent ammo, I'd be much obliged. I sti have some, but have had to really cut back on practice. As of now it's only competitions, and those are low round count to boot!

OH! Just noticed this is listed at 115gr, but the Cabela's is selling 147gr. Does that make any difference?

I am with you, I search as often as possible and I haven't seen a box for less (that I could actually buy) in months. My 2 closest Wal-Marts haven't seen 9mm ammo in months, both managers know me well and said that 9mm has not been in stock for months.

While I will agree 16.99 a box is too much for 9mm ammo people still buy it. Freedom Munitions sells reloads for 18.00 a box and last week sold a million rounds in 2 hours (lots of 500, 172.99 plus shipping) - 2000 idiots IMO - flame on if you if you are a fan of FM and paying insane prices. We are our own worst enemies. We keep paying these prices we will never see the end of this - supply and demand is no longer the major factor, idiocy is!

There are deals out there, maybe not on here alot but they are there. Look and stop feeding folks like Natchez and Freedom Munitions (on my pissed list selling reloads for 3.00 more a box than most folks sell for new) screw em

where do you find it for less?

Practically everywhere. Honestly. I pay 12.99 or 13.99 a box of 50. I wont go over 14.00 myself.

I had 2500 rounds sent last week, never once paid over 160.00 shipped to the door for the 500 round lots, cheapest shipped was 146.00 I got 500 rds x 2 on that one thankfully.

Gander mountain had a bunch for $13.99 not too long ago, my back order from Cabelas just shipped, it was 250 round boxes for $79.99 and only $5 shipping, and that was the most I've spent per round on 9mm

16.99$ is just too much for this AMMO.

0 votes

This comes out to $372 shipped no tax for 1000 rounds, I picked up a 1000 rounds of this ammo from Natchez for $355 shipped. So they aren't THAT bad. I haven't shot it yet, sad to hear it's weak ammo.

Definitely more than the usual price for this type of ammo. Ill wait for the .27/each.

I was thrilled to get a case of UMC at my local sporting good store last month. Very weak round and not that consistent....does burn clean. My M&P shield has fails to eject with this stuff. Not enough to really matter...once today in 100rds but it usually eats anything. With shipping this is almost .40 per round....a bit much for 9mm it was .27 after tax when I bought it last month.

5 box maximum + $12 shipping makes this an "OK" deal given the scarcity of ammo these days. Still $3 a box less than I've been able to find locally...even when offering to purchase bulk (case or more).

Good point...if you need, I have diffidently seen worse deals....plus its nice to see any 9mm on here, that you can actually buy!
