The Agency Base Rifle may look like many garden-variety mil-spec carbines out there—but unlike standard mil-spec carbines, the Agency features Adams Arms' Gas Piston Drive System.

Standard direct impingement carbines redirect the propellant gas back into the action in order to cycle the bolt. This leaves a layer or carbon gunk and burnt gas on all moving parts—which requires regular cleaning and can lead to failure. The Adams Arms Gas Piston Drive System, on the other hand, uses those propellant gases to operate a piston (or rod), which in turn cycles the action. The carbon gunk and burnt gas that would normally end up coating the internals are instead expelled forward—away from you and from the bolt.

What does that mean for you? It means that gas piston rifles run cooler and cleaner than garden-variety mil-spec carbines. So while the Adams Arms Agency Rifle is a highly affordable carbine that's ready to customize, it starts with a much better operating system.
