This is a brand new handgun hanger. This Handgun Hangers enable suspension of handguns by their barrels beneath 5/8 to 1-inch-thick shelves in gun safes, kitchen cabinets, closets and bed frames, freeing up space atop. Normally handgun length must not exceed 10 inches, otherwise the door might not shut. They are suitable for .22-cal. and larger bore diameters, the vinyl coated rod ensure a tighten grip for mounting.

I have these as well... No they are not made from surgical grade steel, but.. A few things to keep in mind.
1. The long side goes on top, permitting most pistols to clear a flush door. (Safe design defendant)
2. Loaded mags weigh a lot!
3. Four for ~$4... Not industrial display case use
With that in mind and not having "wet" oiled barrels, the rubber type coating grips the inside of the barrel well. I have Sigs (239,226) FN Hi-power, para p14 SS etc hanging on these just fine. All purchased from Amazon, and look to be the same item... Bit of flex with a sig.. Yes. Soft like a cheap coat hanger, no.
I only post this as I know safe shelf designs differ.. Mine sit flush to the door. At first I tried long side down, to hang a couple long barreled ruger's. That didn't work for obvious reasons stated. Found that due to simple science.. The short run exerts less stress on the hanger.
If that didn't work... I too would return them and post a negative write up, so folks would avoid wasting time.
For longer guns (single 9) I picked up a rack.
Hopefully this helps a few folks out.

+1, I got two sets of these from Amazon (same ASIN) and they work just fine. Quality is decent and they will support all my revolvers and semi-auto pistolas (unloaded) without sagging, including my .22LR Ruger Single-Ten (2 lbs 6 oz, 5.5” barrel). Hanger length works fine with my safe/shelf when used as described above by Reloads, but YMMV.

Thanks to 'loveusa' I realized that link they posted below is the version I bought from Amazon on 12/30/2012.
I don't use as intended, but rather hook onto the vertical aspect on the sides of bed frames. This has permitted keeping home defense pistols close without taking up space on or inside of a nightstand. When my Osprey gets out of jail (currently 1 week shy of the 5 month mark), then I won't be able to use same approach. But for unsuppressed pistols, I second loveusa's suggested product link.

These are complete junk! 22's will not fit and heavy guns will bounce around and fall down if you knock them with a rifle. Very poor workmanship and it looks like a cheap knockoff.

INSTEAD of above knock offs, I ordered these 2 years ago, and they are perfect. http://amzn.to/1ku5TDI...

Thanks for posting, been looking for these on Amazon but they had disappeared this past week. Only wish it was Prime eligible so I could get free 2 day shipping. But just what I needed for my safe.
