Always liked the Springfield M1A. Just can’t justify the high price. With the basic design and years the rifle has been in production you would think the price would be much lower. AR15’s and AR10’s have dropped dramatically over the years but the M1A is always over a thousand dollars.

Apparently this is due to the complexity of machining the receiver. I guess there is no way around it for the M1A. That’s the reason they greatly simplified the Mini14 receiver, making it cheaper to manufacture but at the cost of durability. I agree it should be cheaper but I don’t know if that will ever happen. For this price point I’d go AR-10
