Take the money you'd spend on this and put it toward an ASP. Only the last rod and tip are metal. The rest, especially the end cap and grip are plastic. The end cap pops off the end when trying to retract this baton. I had to place the tip on the concrete and then smack the end cap with a hammer to get it to retract. Otherwise, the end cap would keep stripping off the threads and flying across the room.

Or Smith & Wesson for $45, but ASP is the ideal baton

I do not recommend. had mine for a couple months and now it wont even open to full extension. most of it is plastic. would not trust it to protect me or anyone else except the bad guy. still would give a good wallop if it worked properly but that isnt the case.
