Over 7# w/o sights? *That's* a d@mn beefy rimfire! How dare they call it a "scout" when it's that overweight? The spec for a Scout rifle in a *centerfire* chambering is 7.5# all up, including scope and sling; <7# if using irons [and of course, rimfires need not apply: no one shot stops on a running deer with one at 100yds!] Wish I knew if these things shot well at all... They're Steyr, so you'd *think* they would, but I've heard precisely zero about them...
Who was the idiot that decided to use 1/2 x 20 threading on the barrel?
I *think* that it must correspond to some standard metric thread [ie, it's actually 12 x .7 mm pitch?] that kinda/sorta works as an SAE 1/2"x20tpi. Because if not, someone at Steyr needs a whuppin'! X-D
the only reason that windbag spec’d a long eye relief scope on the “scout rifle” was because it was a top-loading surplus rifle. there’s nothing good about long eye relief. this has to stop. fortunately this little rifle appears to have a dovetail in the normal place.
sorry but this not a Steyr as advertised... its an ISSC . 17hmr copy. Same as what they do with the SCAR .22 and how Walther does small caliber copies of all sort of firearms. Still a cool plinker or squirrel slayer. I think its should be around $200-$225 though.
