I would agree with all the comments below about Cabelas prices being hugely uncompetitive. I have had a Cabelas black club Visa card for the past 7yrs where I get 5% back on Cabelas purchases and this is the first year that I will not be able to maintain the black card as my Cabelas purchases have significant dwindled ever since BassPro took them over. Even the online bargain cave sucks these days. I live by two Cabelas and I haven’t stepped foot in either store in almost a year. Why buy at overpriced Cabelas when you can get it far cheaper at Brownells, Primary Arms, PSA, etc, etc. What I am really curious to see is Cabelas Black Friday sales and if they pull any Scope sale trickery for the 4th straight year. I doubt it b/c Bass Pro seems hell bent on driving Cabelas to be the next Sears. Too bad, but hey Brownells took note!!

I agree- I am 'lucky' to have a BP and Cabelas within 15 miles of each other. I used to drive past the BP to get to Cabelas, but now I skip both. Cabelas was where I went to get reloading supplies, but now, I can pay MSRP closer to home at BP! (sarcasm). I have a Cabela's visa as well, but its use is dwindling to next to nothing. Brownells is getting my business now.

Oh! Academy is the one retailer that I shop at- and they do it perfectly. They have sales that bring me to the store, and then I spend more than I intend :)

I still got $150 gift cards trying to get rid off. I used to spend at least $1000 annually, mostly ammo. Now like others said, went straight down hill. For example, the Remington UMC $12.99 box, after 10% off, still at around $11.69. Even with the 20% off from the gift card, it still costs $9.35. Now a day, a good deal would be around $8.5.

Ever since Bass Pro Shop's bought out Cabela's, they have went WAAAAAY downhill! They quit offering the Military discount on ANYTHING you buy online or in the store, no more layaway, and no more decent sales from time to time.... They are basically running Cabela's straight into the ground, just like what was already happening to Bass Pro Shop's, only faster! When will these large corporate companies take some advice from the companies that are actually successful!? Anyways, Cabela's is dead to me now, and I used to shop there at least twice a month and spend about $5-10k a year there. Oh well...

If bass pro bought them and not the other way around, then I’m guessing they aren’t that successful...

That's an incorrect view- BP bought them to eliminate the competition- they were a threat.

Would love to see if bass pro sales went up or down after they bought Cabela’s.

They need to bring back their 10off 50 and 20off 100 deals. I have not shopped there since they quit those. Everytime they would send me one, it was a trip to Cabelas... not so much anymore

I always wonder if those coupons kill their profits. I shopped their like you then switched to Sportsman's Guide. They killed their deals too and now Brownells gets all my spare money. Thanks to this site, I just follow the deals!
