I like and have had a few CMMG barrels. But for not a lot more - or sometimes even around the same price - you could get a barrel from Odin Works (McGowen blanks) or Wilson Combat (known to be accurate). That’s the direction I prefer to go.

For those recommending BCA over CMMG due to the 1 MOA guarantee… good luck in the long-term with that decision. Not saying BCA barrels can’t shoot well, but they’re not really a long-term barrel investment, IME. Put 10k rounds through one without cleaning it and get back to us on your experience. My experience has not been great with long-term accuracy.

Also, CMMG would likely stand behind their product if you received a barrel or firearm that was shooting extremely poor with match ammo, a good shooter behind the optic, and everything was tight on the scope. I’d like to see what those who complained about accuracy did to troubleshoot their problem and then discuss with the manufacturer. And 3 MOA isn’t terrible when you consider CMMG isn’t marketing this as a match grade barrel. 3 MOA is within mil-spec parameters and is on-par with most “standard-tier”barrel makers.

Yep. Ditto your findings. BCA is not in this neighborhood. CMMG has proven products, and Odin starts with a good product and specializes in high quality finishing. I use Wilson, Noveske or complete Larue if I don't need phosphate or CL from Centurion or similar, and Faxon for lightweights. Spend all you can on the barrel if you are serious.

All great barrel makers and better options than CMMG, for sure. I’ve used all of them you’ve listed except Noveske - which I can’t bring myself to buy when I can buy something comparable from DD Centurion. Maybe if I ever build that MK12 upper I’ve dreamt about, Noveske could be a good fit for that project… but again, Centurion offers a LEGIT MK12 option…

At any rate, agreed.

Thanks for the info! Check out www.bearcreekarsenal.com... they have quality and great prices! They even give free barrels to veterans during Veterans Day (sorry, I'm a tad late on that info!). I've bought 3 barrels/different calibers and all under $150 and shoot MOA or less (less by my wife-ugh).

I agree, Bear Creek guarantees 1 Moa on barrels 16" or longer, and if you're not happy call them and they'll honor their commitment.

Thanks for the info. I am building 300 blackout pistol. Nothing fancy. I will definitely try BCA 300 Blk barrel. I hope they get their 13.5 inch carbine barrel back in stock. Seems like perfect barrel for my project.

I almost bought this barrel. But then I started reading forums. Some people are getting 3 MOA out of this barrel @100 yards with match ammo. So I decided to call CMMG and ask for their precision guarantee. Found out they have none and did not want to guarantee any precision out of this barrel. Sounds to me they don't have much faith in product they are selling. Price is attractive but seems that is pretty much it about this barrel.
I went with Black Hole Weaponry HBAR with 3R rifling. I am glad I did. Sub MOA all day.

This is good info. I believe you but am surprised CMMG will not guarantee this barrel will shoot 1 MOA.

I was surprised too. But I am not the only one. Some people have troubles getting this barrel to shoot well. Just google it.
In the meantime I needed barrel replacement for a different AR. I bought Ballistic Advantage 18 inch SS 1 in 8 (BHW was out of stock at surplus ammo). For $199 and free shipping from JBO. After 300 rounds I am believer in Ballistic Advantage 1 MOA @100 yards guarantee. I repeatedly shoot their barrel from 200 to 600 yards and 1.5 inch @200 yards is no problem (10 rounds groups). Also, 6 to 9 inches at 600 yards no problem (5 to 10 rounds groups). So far in my experience BHW (Black Hole Weaponry) and BA (Ballistic Advantage) make excellent barrels. Life is too short and match ammo is too expensive to waste it on sub par products from companies that don't believe in what they sell.
