Toolcraft DLC 5.56 Bolt Carrier Group is a Full-Auto M16 BCG, manufactured using a Carpenter 158 steel bolt, and 8620 steel carrier. The Diamond-Like Carbon Coating is a relatively new and highly desired coating for BCG’s. DLC has a very low coefficient of friction, is self-lubricating in dry conditions, extremely resistant to wear, highly resistant to corrosion, and one of the hardest coatings at 90 Rockwell. DLC is tough, hence the Diamond-like name, it features additional lubricity over Nickel Boron, and carbon fouling wipes right off with a dry patch. The Bolt Carrier Group is the heart of your rifle, and if you want a smooth running BCG that’s easy to clean, this is the one for you!

DLC and nitride/melonite are the way to go for durable, cost effective coatings!
Quickly became the favorite of my Tool Craft BCG’s. I have two Nickel Boron and this DLC. Cleans easily, functions well under high volume shooting.
Is DLC more slick than black nitride?
no, Ionbond is a LITTLE less slick than Nitride.
Ion Bonding and DLC are all PVD type coatings and all have a lower friction coefficient than nitride/ melonite finishes. Lower than NiB as well, and harder RC score, 90 RC if I'm not mistaken. The research is there, something like CrypticCoatings Mystic Black is, arguably, the best coating currently on the market, looking at the numbers. Is it the best BCG, I won't say, because I'm sure someone else will for me.
