Mine don’t jam, has been flawless out of the box.

Great deal, great gun. Stock mag springs are too heavy & can cause jams when the mags are fully loaded. After the springs break in, they're fine.

To clarify: mine is the 5” barrel full-size Enhanced model as well. I’m very happy with my purchase and it is a beautiful gun for the price. I switched out the grips (which were very rough) for some Magpul grips and like them better.

You have the 5” Government Model it’s called, try the “Commander Model” 4.25” barrel to see how much better balanced it feels in the hand, yes you’ll have a shorter sight radius, but it’ll feel better balanced in the hand

UPDATE: After getting some Wilson Combat ETS mags and shooting about 500 more rounds I’ve had no further issues with FTF or FTE. This has been a great gun overall and is a blast to shoot.

Wilson Combat of Mec-Gar mags for 1911’s are reliable, Mec-Gar are some times cheaper.

The all metal Mec-Gar 7 rd 1911 .45ACP mags are built like a tank.

I have the enhanced 5" model. I absolutely love this gun, but I did have some malfunctions early on. After replacing all mags with Wilson-Rodgers 47d's, I was still having issues (4-5 malfunctions every 100 rounds or so). Upon dissassembly and inspection, I found the extractor was adjusted for too much tension. This is a solid gun, but like most stock production 1911's it may need some finish tuning. I actually prefer that, it builds my experience with the gun. My thinking is this, if you want out of the box, idiot proof, no tuning required pistols, you probably aren't looking at a 1911 anyway

Ive had mine (r1 non enhanced) for almost a year. Bought at 499. With a 100. Rebate. Best new gun purchase I've made in years. It's tight and dead on accurate. I have zero complaints.

A buddy of mine and I each got the 5” version of this. I had a couple fail to feed on first mag, but none after that. He had a few more and ended up having a local gunsmith polish the feed ramp. Since then he has had no feed issues. May be worth looking into before spending a bunch on mags. We are using the stock Remington mags (which aren’t great) but they came with the gun. Hope this helps a lil.

Thanks man, I’ll give that a shot. I bought this solely as a range gun because I’ve always wanted a 1911 and something that would be fun to shoot. It was really accurate at pistol ranges and I’m not a very good shot.

1911’s that are decently built are very accurate due to the tight fit of barrel to slide during lockdown and the fantastic short single action trigger.

Bought one a couple weeks back from GrabAGun. Ordered on Wednesday, at FFL Friday. Had 3-4 FTF (didn’t want to go into battery) during the first 10 mags. I’m going to order some aftermarket magazines and seee if that fixes it.

It did not want to go into battery because it’s not an electric gun, it runs on Gun powder, just kidding. Polish the feed ramp (don’t sand anything) and get some all metal Meg-Gar mags, the stainless steel ones will look great on that 1911

Remington plans to file for bankruptcy.

It seems like all Remington products have gone down hill over the last 20 years, and they brought marlin down with them. Bankruptcy seems like its been a long time coming.

's are great to shoot, but loaded they weigh almost 3 lbs. Carrying one around all day "I have done so in my 50 years has never worked. After a week you go back to that 20 oz polymer M&P or Glock

Gym, with a good gun belt (thick leather with metal insert for reinforcement and stiffness) and a good affordable holster (such as Alien Gear), you’ll be able to carry that 1911 and forget some times that’s on you

Are these acceptable? Are they comparable to Ruger?

Yes. I would put this model a touch above the Ruger 1911......... and the regular Remington 1911 (non "Enhanced" model) a bit below the Ruger 1911.
