So what is your take on this item? Is it worth it for the two calibers, or over the top in price when you complete it? Sorry guys I am rookie at this. Still learning. Thanks for the assistance..

Unless you are also going to buy compatible upper(S) you must also buy a "conversation kit" to make it work with a 223 / 556 upper and you are SOL on any non-matching 308 upper. If this was a true "kit" complete with all the fixin's it might be worth looking but as it stands is an spare piece to a discontinued puzzle.....err "collector's item" according to some.

Are the compatible stripped uppers available?

Complete uppers will be available in January.

They ARE NOT releasing lowers again

Nope. They are supposed to release a small amount of complete uppers around next year, but I would be surprised if they ever sold stripped uppers. It would hurt their ability to charge Lilja barreled upper prices for mill spec stuff. ;)

This is a decent price but please be aware this will ONLY work with the Colt 901 upper. This WILL NOT work with any other 308/ar-10 type upper from any other manufacturer. It will work with any AR-15 upper if you use the conversion kit (around $200), but the bolt holes for the take down pins simply do not line up with a conventional 308 style upper.

That is correct, this lower only accepts Colt's 901 uppers, but with the conversion kit will accept any mil-spec 223/556 upper.

The newly revised 308 uppers from Colt will be released in January. No complete rifles are scheduled until then from what I am aware of. Colt NEVER sells lowers to dealers and the lowers we received are the only ones that will be released.

A Colt M4 lower is $399 this lower is much more intricate with all ambidextrous controls and on par with LMTs 308 lowers that cost 500+ but Colt's lower is the only one on the market that allows for multiple caliber uppers to be used

You can have a modular lower for the low, low price of just 3 times the price of a single caliber lower....
