The best thing about the mini 30 I used to own: the target always looked like I owned a full auto rifle from the wide shot group, when it was just an imprecise semi. It was harder to clean and struck military primers too lightly.
If you are after variety or nostalgia (or live in a goofy state) and have $1100 to burn, go for it. If you are looking for performance and functionality, save your bucks and get an AR or AK version.

These are a lot of fun, but unless you are in a restricted state I would rather a nice mag-fed AK like the VEPR.

I know these are fantastic rifles that have stood the test of time however it strikes me odd that with the falling prices of semi auto rifle and other firearms that these consistently hold around the $750-$800 range. It'd be nice to see them drop in price too!

I think the prices will settle and eventually rise again on 'black rifles' once the massive amount of surplus has been gone through and all of these garage "manufacturers" disappear as quickly as they came. These rifles did not suffer the same dramatic peaks and valleys in demand and nor can anyone other than Ruger produce them. Anyone can assemble...oops "build" an AR. I agree though the Mini's could stand to be a little cheaper.
