Sent me a denial, said no receipt, BS, total BS submitted again in the mail. If I don't get this rebate I will never do another S&W rebate again. Terrible.

Got one in 308 last month, and just ordered a savage axis 6.5 creedmoor from cabelas for 149!

Prob not yet for lefties in talking with T/C, but the Compass has been a huge success for them so far they said. However, I shoot my 6.5 Compass as a lefty due to astigmatism in the right eye. Because of the 60 deg throw, not overly aggressive ejection and decently smooth bolt (when tracked/operated properly) I have been really enjoying it. Got some hits with it out past 1000 a few weeks ago

Sidenote of interest to some. Put a VG6 762 brake on and it turned it in to a very mild, (hardly moves now) shooter as compared to how it comes stock.

Tried a seekins precision brake that felt like half as much reduction in recoil, if not less. But the seekins goes for $20-40 more most places compared to the VG6.

I bought mine in 308 and I really like it but speaking of rebate has anyone received theirs, any updates or way to track it?

So far I have this in .308 and 30-06. Love it. Paid $418 for the pair (after rebate). One came with a scope (sportsman's guide) One day there will be aftermarket laminate stocks for this just as there are for the TC Venture. It is very high quality. I am hooked! I want a .223 now since Norma TAC is only 26¢ per round!!!

Went to my LGS this morning to handle these, winchester xpr, ruger american, ruger american predator, savage axis, howa 1500 and mossberg's offering in this grade of rifle.

Of all 8 rifles, the T/C was the roughest looking, feeling and operating of them all. The only catagory where I did not feel it came in dead last was trigger. The Howa took the cake there, lots of take up, heavist pull and next to no pressure wall like the other 7.

The Xpr boasts the tightest groupings in a few YT reviews. No one seems to be able to get the T/C to hit that 1 MOA guarantee,...not with any measurable consistentcy anyhow.

For the T/C, I handled the 30.06, 7mm r m, and the .308. The stocks feel cheap and the texture leaves something to be desired. They do however offer less flex than all the other 5 rifles, save the Howa, XPR and Mossberg with the Howa being the most rigid.

The wing safety in a word; sucks. Its awkward to operate, stiff, forces you to break your grip when manipulating it and it's difficult to fully tell when you've switched between the three available positions. The action is nearly of the same feel and quality, maybe a little better, but not by much.

Of the 8 I looked at the Ruger American was the absolute smoothest action, followed closely by the XPR. Both of those guns triggers were the best too. The T/C's was decent, but is adjustable so I suppose that may improve.

The 5R rifling is a big deal, the higher capacity is a bonus and the threaded muzzle pretty much makes this rifle nearly in it's own class (hence why I included the higher priced higher value, Predator).

At $300 these are a great target rifle, at $210 they are a steal. Not a hunter so I can't comment too much on that. However, I think the super awkward safety could make this a no go for shooters looking to be able to react quick and confidently with their weapon in a high pressure shooting situation.

Also, I handled the Ruger and XPR (probably two best guns) at 3 differnt LGSs today and tried to pick the less popular calibers so the actions and triggers werent already smoothed out from being display guns. Testing out these two guns at 3 seperate stores and having similar results each time would make me feel confident in choosing either of those over the T/C, but you will pay more.

I Have a recalled .308 T/C Compass with a 6.25lb trigger pull. Sucks that their fix for the recall is to add heavy springs... Bull shit really. BUT, at a bench on bags, I shot Hornady Superformance with the 150 grain SST Bullets today with phenomenal results. At 100 yards, I Shot a 5 round Sub MOA group with 3 holes touching each other... almost the same hole. I was using a Primary Arms 4-14 Orion scope. I properly broke in the barrel using a copper equilibrium break in procedure. 80 rounds later, it's ready for deer sniping! This rifle is truly capable if you do your part!!

I agree with you completely but when accompanied by a Vortex Crossfire II scope for $283 shipped (Kentucky Gun Co.) this is a no brainer for a first hunting rifle.

What was the cost for the Ruger American? I have two of them, and absolutely love them both. Not one thing to complain about. I'm interested in picking up a .243Win for my daughter.

How it compare to an axis or ruger American?

As good as both. Moa guarantee 5R rifling and a threaded barrel. Can't beat ir. I ordered one in 300 win mag this morning

It's tempting then, I don't need it but I want it. I want to make a soft and cheap to shoot basic target rifle and this might fit the bill

Why the down vote? $209.99 for this seems like a steal. I know they had a recall with the Compasses, but at least they remedied the issue.

Do you remember what the recall issue was about? They sell a package deal on the Compass with adjustable trigger and match grade barrel at a good price, but that's no guarantee it'll be a great rifle because it's budgeted at the lowest end.
