I own one of these. Put over 500 rounds through it only experienced one jam. Oiling the feed ramp fixed that. The only gripe I have with the gun is the magazine release. Without a piece of tape on the right side of the release the button will just fall out of the gun. It is a design flaw.

Damn. I paid $380 for mine. Gotta support local business, I guess. Over 5000 rounds in, this gun has been the best first firearm I ever purchase. Will definitely order another one so mine isn't lonely.

shot a friends pt111 and i have to say.. the gun looks good. possibly the best looking gun taurus has made. but like most taurus it shoots like crap.. yea i know its sub 200 and thats a plus i guess.
but do yourself a fav and get a sheild or something else.

How does it shoot like crap?

grouping was all over the place.. and no it wasnt me..
same day, same ammo took my PC sheild and was 2 to 3 in groups
that thing was like 6 to 8 in groups with some flying away..

I owned both and the Taurus shoots better and is more comfortable to hold. Shield is nice but narrow grip puts gun at slightly strange angle in my hand. Needed only one gun for truck so I sold the shield. Not disappointed in my decision. With the 8 round mag on the shield, they were almost exactly the same size. With comparable reliability, 12 shots to 8 was a no brainer.

Had one of these for around 6 months and it's been great. Most ranges rent them out.

Buds, Classic, Grabagun and many others always have them for $195 and under and some of them have free or next to free shipping, Cabelas is the most expensive place Ive ever seen to buy any kind of gun. Just because of that I wouldn't buy from them, they should have the cheapest guns since they're a chain and buy a huge amount from manufacturers so they get some of the best rates for guns in the country but decide to not transfer it to their customers. Won't ever do business with a place like that!

Had many Taurus, SOLD THEM.

Totally agree! Big store almost always means big price. No good reason for that whatsoever, other than being perhaps a "one stop shop" for sporting goods. Yet somehow the tiny "Mom & Pop" stores can afford to charge less. Its a bunch of Bullsh**, sadly its all about preying on ignorant or less knowledgeable customers, and CEO's paychecks.

WHAT? Buy a few of those 18-20% off gift cards and you can find great deals at Cabelas. Most big box stores have outrageous prices. Ever shop at Academy? That is why you always shop around and find the best deals comparing EVERY store. You just have to use some common sense.

Virus11b-This is what I carry. Lighter than my Springfields. Great little gun.

It's great. One of my 2 favorite 9mm. My other favorite is my bersa thunder 9 pro. But the pt111 is much better for carry. Depending on the day I either carry my ruger sr40c, my walther p-22, or the pt111

Installed my Fiber Optic Sights from https://lakelinellc.com... a few days ago. It took just a few tools and a bit of time. You don't need to be a gunsmith to install them. And the directions were kind of iffy on a few steps. Like which screw you should use so not to break the sight(s) or damage the threads on the gun itself. Taking it to a nice range tomorrow to test her out.

This is one of my favorite pistols and I own many brands. Word of mouth is that this is a Taurus home run. Lot of worse pistols out there

How many did you buy before you figured out you disliked the brand???

In my opinion and experience these are the best sub $200/250 pistols available. (Excluding rebates and such on others). I've owned several of these and they all functioned flawlessly. I have one that had over 2000 rounds and is the best one of the 4 I own. Yes the triggers are super long and a bit heavy when new but after a few hundred rounds or some Dremel polishing on the internals they smooth right up. Trigger pull remains long but once you get used to it there's no problem. They are accurate as a compact pistol could be, very ergonomic and comfortable to shoot. What I really like is the fact that they hold a full 13 rounds and have a rail all in a pistol around the same size as a S&W shield. Really anyone wanting an inexpensive home defense or carry gun should consider these. Plus they have a no questions asked lifetime warranty!

This is a great little gun, especially at this price point. Just put 300 rounds through it with no issues. Nice balance of size, mag capacity, and simplicity. Everyone that has shot it (owners of Sig, Glock, etc...) has liked it, especially when they hear the price. Trigger takes a little getting used to, but that's just a great excuse to hit the range, right?!

The gun is now $199, and they're taking off 5% as a sale which makes it $189. If you live near a Cabella's and have the gift cards you get the gun for about $160. You can't beat that at all.

Ky Gun Co has the model with the built-in Viridian laser for $238

Just a note- The Viridian laser is not built-in. It is removable and may or may not be installed when you P/U the gun. This is a good thing. If it were built in, and it broke, you would need to return the entire gun to get it fixed or have a laser that does not work. This laser is removable and you can just send it in for repair/replacement if under warranty, or just buy another. But it is a damn good deal for the asking price for the set.

For those who want extra mags....I was told THIS mag fits the PT111, but won't lock the slide back on empty. And you will need the XGRIP piece to fit on the bottom...matches up to the PT111 pretty good.

Xgrip Mag Spacer S&w M&pc 9/40 XGSWMP-cnNyZmVlZA $10.31
Mec-gar Mag Sig P226 9mm 18rd Afc MCP22618AFC-cnNyZmVlZA $22.17

And they also carry the PT111 in stainless/Grey, which I bought $206.91
https://www.fwtguns.com/pt111-mil-pro-g2-9mm-ss-gray-31936...

Shipping was $16.77 for the gun and 2 sets of mags. I think $9 for just the mags.

Search for discount Cabela's gift cards. Many online outlets have 12-14% off e-cards. I didn't want to deal with it and drive 2 hours to Cabela's, so I bought from Academy with price match plus 5% off.

Does taurus still give a year free to the NRA with purchase?

Yes they do. I did not want it, but person who helped me out said all the info was available online to take advantage of it.

Before ordering, pick up 2 $100 gift cards on ebay for $82 each. This will make the gun cost $164+TAX. Can't beat that deal. Really nice pistol. Small, but holds 12+1 rounds.

Ebay just had them for $80 for $100 Cabelas card & will for new years I bet. I've never seen anyone pay over $199 for these & the NRA screwed me out of the membership 2 years in a row so I joined GOA, much better & no wine club e-mails.

I just got one at gander, price matched cabellas however they wouldn't do the 10% but they did have 20 off 100 or more, but he said their cost was 209 and he couldn't sell it at cost or below so he sold it to me for 215
