The Armscor M1600 is a semi automatic rimfire rifle made in the Philippines. It is designed to emulate the M-16 rifle. This allows the user to get a comfortable grasp of the weapon platform and shoot it using the cheaper .22 Long Rifle ammunition instead of the more expensive .223 Remington/5.56 NATO ammunition. I bought this exact rifle decades ago, it is wood but this rifle isn't worth spending the time to try to I improve it. If memory serves it was hardwood, then coated with a thick polymer or paint shell.
I needed a rifle for a project shoot on the ocean, my choice was limited and I needed it that day, it was either this or a 45-70 Marlin Cowboy. (The sporting good store I was at sucked at having a selection) This won out as it was cheap.
Honestly, it was reliable and had no issues other than it was butt ugly and stupid. Used it once or twice, put it away, where it sat for 25 years.
When we sold our family home, I took this out of the attic and used a chop saw and cut the rifle into numerous pieces, hence how I know it was wood ;)
That has got to be the ugliest .22 I have ever seen. I think the Mossberg AR .22 is a better buy than this laser blaster.
The stock on these is wood if I remember correctly. It would be interesting to refinish it, and see how it looks.
