Find the Vortex Optic that is right for you. Designed for the AR platform, the Vortex Spitfire Prism Scope excels in close- to medium-range shooting applications when fast target acquisition is necessary. The prism-based design allows for a compact optical system while offering high-level quality. Lenses are fully multicoated with anti-reflective coatings to offer bright views in low-light settings. The red illuminated reticle features five levels of intensity to match your shooting situation. Etched directly on the prism, the reticle ensures shooters have an effective point of aim at all times, regardless if illumination is engaged. The 1X Spitfire's Dual Ring Tactical (DRT) reticle promotes quick target engagement. The 3X Spitfire utilizes the EBR-556B reticle, which is a hybrid with BDC drop references that subtend with the 5.56 cartridge. The reticle focuses on the rear ocular. The Multi-Height Mount System allows for 30mm and 40mm mounting heights. Flip caps keep lenses protected and free of dirt, dust and debris. Dual rails mounted on the 3X allow the optic to be joined with an offset, auxiliary-reflex sight. Shockproof construction stands up to recoil and impact. Nitrogen gas purging with O-ring seals delivers fogproof and waterproof performance. Hard-anodized matte-black finish. Uses one CR-2032 battery (included).

  • Have 3 of these DRT etched reticle. Battery dies and you're still able to stay in the game. Glass is clear, can go really fast with the wide range of view.

Just got my order of last week from Cabela’s. Love it. I have an astigmatism so red dots look like commas to my eyes. I was a bit leary ordering from Cabela’s as I got screwed on an optics order a couple of Black Fridays ago but they came through this time.
The optic seems awesome to me, very crisp. A big improvement from standard red dots for my eyes. I have this mounted in the low position on my Mossberg 930 JM Pro. The DRT reticle seems perfect for this application. Lastly, I don’t much care where it comes from it seems like a quality optic and I have a lot of reqard for Vortex. I’ve tested their VIP Warranty on more than one occasion and their service is exceptional.

These are made in China you’d think they’d be at least made in the Philippines. Chinese junk shouldn’t cost this much or even at the regular price of 249.95.

I totally agree with you. I had this for about a month but no wonder this is from China. Lens are not very clear and not even a true x1. Burris, Nikon and other companies bring their scopes from Philippines and honestly their optic quality is so much better than the ones from China. Life time warranty? You need a better optic quality first than a warranty.

China issues who cares, Its a prism optic so correct not true 1X. a life time warranty is no reflection on Vortex quality, its a reflection on their customer service. for what its worth i also love my Nikon.

I am certainly no fan of the iPhone, but they do have undeniably good cameras, which are optics so the connection is still there.

Cabela's is listing this as "In stock online" but my order from Saturday is currently on backorder. From what I've read Cabela's can be shady with fulfilling optic sales, fingers crossed

Just finished my first build and looking at optics. Can I put the Vortex Crossfire two behind this? Looking for something with fast accusation at night to switch between 25ish yards with the red dot to maybe 75-100yds dropping on the move in a golf cart or mule etc.

I just purchased one, can anyone recommend a good magnifier?

i don't believe they work well with magnifiers... i researched and found a few hacks that make them work fine using some of the adjustments on each part.

I have an astigmatism and yes the benefit of this, I have one, is it’s etched reticle. Looking through this vs. my AIM Point is the Vortex reticle is sharp and crisp and my Aim Point red dot is not due to my astigmatism. Main reason I got it.

This or the strike fire 2? Which one would you recommend?

Spitfire. Etched reticle is nice in case battery is dead. Strikefire 2 is too bulky IMO. This is a nice price!

If you have any astigmatism, this by a mile. Otherwise, the micro dots from Vortex, Primary Arms, Sig Sauer and Holosun are all pretty nice. This also has a circle dot reticle, so it might be better for CQB acquisition.

I bought one of these before Labor day only to have the price drop on their Labor Day sale.

I think I will wait until Black Friday and see what kind of prices I can get on this or a Holosun. I have both and like both for different reasons.

DanTampa what are the pros and cons of both I'm trying to decide myself

    0 votes

The Holosun is more compact and offers features the Vortex Spitfire doesn't but those features make the Holosun more expensive. My model, HS515C has the ability to go from circle dot to just dot, has a kill flash, solar/battery power and a quick release mount.

The Vortex is slightly larger, has a better warranty and most important to me has the etched reticle. I also have Burris 1x4 MTac's with the etched reticle and they are absolutely great but are larger and more expensive.

I prefer the etched reticle in the non illuminate mode, as it isn't affected by bright sunlight. I can't remember a time with the etched reticle optics that I have ever used the illuminated mode except in low light light conditions.

The Holosun sits atop a light weight build of mine. The Vortex Spitfire sits atop my AR9 build and another on a standard mid length AR15.

I am hoping to catch a Holosun HS503FL at a good price on Black Friday to replace cheap reflex sight currently on my converted Saiga. It has a low mount that I need to work with my current AK mount on the gun. If the Vortex is a better deal then I will change out the AK mount for something else to work with the taller mount of the Spitfire.

Unless I absolutely needed the extra bells and whistles of a higher end Holosun model, or a model with a different mount option, then I personally would go with the Vortex Spitfire, if for no other reason then the better warranty and etched reticle. The etched reticle means the optics is still useful if the battery is dead or a failure with the illumination, and with a simple manual rotary dial controlling the illumination, rather than push button electronic control...I would think the Vortex would be less likely to fail.

One other thing...the etched reticle doen't give me the distortion my projected red dot optics do.

Of course that is just my opinion...based on my preferences/requirements.

I got both holosun and the vortex and I'll tell you what the glass on the vortex is crystal clear. It's like you put on a pair of glasses on one eye best I can describe it.

Got mine in the mail 2 days ago, ordered off this post for $149 + Tax (Texas). Haven't had time to shoot it yet (trying to get friends to go today) but it seems to be well made and the reticle is as clear as day vs the EoTech I recently purchased as well with that rebate knocking it down to $255 shipped - no tax.

I have had Lasik so the EoTech reticle is blurry to me. The one on this Spitfire is as all the commenters and reviewers say. Clear as day easy to get a sight picture with it. Its still very effective with no battery as the etched reticles are still easy to pick up with my eyes.

I have it installed on an AR with an A2 front sight post and although the post is in the sight picture it is no hindrance and since 1x co-witnesses perfect since correct height. I wanted to step up my optics game so bought both this on sale and the EOTech. I have shot with EoTechs before and ill report back once I shoot through this spitfire but in hindsight I may have been better off buying two of these. $150 with no rebate and already comes with lense covers. vs $260 after MIR and still either need to buy the GG&G covers and void my warranty or a sock cover.

If only I had more $$$!!! I just blew through my gun budget for the next few months.

Edit: I just re-ordered with my cabelas bucks coupon I got in the mail for $130 + tax (so $140 total for me shipped). Will be returning the new one that shows up with my $150+tax invoice to the local cabelas. If you have a coupon pick one of these up for $130 you won't regret it.

So guess what?!?!?!?! I received my $20 cabelas bucks coupon in the mail a few days after my spitfire showed up.

Ordered one last night at $130 with my coupon. Going to return the new one that ships today with my $150 receipt to the local cabelas to get my $20 back.

Again I would have been happy at $150 for this sight but I have only had it a week and shot it once and they drop it another $20? I am willing to go through the hassle of a return to get my $20 back.

There isn't one. Reported misleading title so hopefully they fix it. I guess if you need 2 you can get them for $139 each.

The only way to use the email code is to spend $200. It doesn't take $20 off of $149.

Idk about an email code. I received mine in the mail.

It was two codes one for me and one for a friend. - that coupon expires today fyi, or at least mine does if you want it for $130.

Bummed about learning that it has an eye relief which means you're going to be slower bringing it into sight. Also it makes magnifier impractical or impossible. I don't understand the application...liersurely plinking AR for 100 yards and in?

I don't understand what this brings over a regular circle/dot red dot. I guess its the etched reticle but there are some 1-4 scopes with illumination in this price range.

If you don't have an astigmatism(s) then yes there are better red dots or reflex sights for the price. My best friend who is an EoTech fan boy will attest the EoTech is still better even though he has an astigmatisms as well.

For someone like me that got lasik due to horrible eyesight previously my eyes are still not perfectly round and still don't reflect light perfectly (shades of white look different to me after lasik believe it or not) so a regular red dot sight or Eotech, etc. the reticle looks blurry to me when trying to get a sight picture. On this one still a bit blurry but much more defined reticle and easier to get a sight picture even with the eye relief and even in a quick acquisition scenario (I have only practiced in the mirror so far though).

You are correct, I tested a 3x magnifier on this sight and it did not work well at all. So basically your buying a fancy red dot but supposedly Vortex is a good brand and stands by their products. Lifetime warranty vs the 2 year EoTech warranty.

For me this was a no brainer. $140 with tax vs the $255 I spent on a EoTech (and that's after MIR). Reticle is clearer vs EoTech for me. Both are 1x. but one is just a little over half the price and better/longer warranty.

The only pro in my book the EoTech has over this Spitfire is that you can magnify it but realistically you need a nice magnifier and those aren't cheap. I just wish the 3x spitfire was $150, if it was I would snatch one up quick.

    Nice reply.

But I still not quite sure how this optic is preferable OPTICALY to say the $140 Holosun circle/dot (that has shake awake).

Are you saying people with astigmatism will have a clearer image on this versus the holosun?

I have poor sight corrected somewhat by glasses and I find my Holosun 503 and its single circle to appears as 3 blurry circles with no glasses, 2 clearer circles with computer glasses on, and one clear circle with my driving/range glasses.

Are you saying this optic would be any different?

I bought one last month. I had the chance to use it once and I really like it. Bad eyes coupled with an astigmatism rendered red dots pretty much useless. This is pretty clear, but it's still difficult to see the center dot on the wrong target regardless of color. I do wish I would have gotten the 3X, but that's more than twice the cost. This works great on my M&P15-22. Well worth the $150.

I bought two of the Sportech Spitfires within a week of each other. I called Vortex to ask how well these work with AR with the front A2 post. Their demo rifle in their showroom has that same configuration. You see the post and it doesn't bother most people. I'm planning to put it on a Ruger ar-556 and a Smith & Wesson MP 15 - 22

I bought two, one to go on a 9mm build and the other went on my Special Ops Tactical AR with a FSB. It appeared to be an absolute co-witness and I didn't care for the sight picture. To busy for me.

I had to use a 1/2 inch riser to get it to be 1/3 co-witness then it caused my cheek weld to be off. I then added a Larue cheek weld riser to my CTR stock. Sight picture and cheek weld is fine now although I haven't sighted it in yet to see where the FSB and reticle end up in relationship to each other, and to make sure there is enough elevation adjustment to compensate for the 1/2 riser. I suspect it will be fine for my preferences. I really like the optics.

One of my two has the illumination selector 180 degrees off. The dial shows red but the illumination is green and when the selector is set on green the illumination is red. The other one is fine. Little aggravating but since I hardly ever use illumination on an etched reticle, not worth sending back at this time.
