Bought one of these for CCW since it's extremely light for its size and relatively inexpensive. I figured if I got one that wouldn't run right it would be no problem since I'm a gunsmith, I'd just fix the damned thing like I do with any troublesome gun.

Gun arrived with lots of casting flash on the polymer frame and the rear sight a bit left of center. A little work with a small file fixed the flash, a quick tap with a drift and the sight was fixed. At the range about half the rounds failed to extract. Flat nosed ammo wouldn't feed. The trigger was just awful, the length of take-up was just plain ridiculous, some grittiness and enough over-travel after the break to be noticeable. The floor of the trigger guard is too close to the trigger, it slaps your trigger finger hard enough on recoil to become painful after 50+ rounds.

I completely disassembled the gun and went to town, polishing everything that moved, cleaning up the trigger action, polishing the feed ramp & ramp extension and a light chamber polish to help extraction. I called Kel-Tec and explained the extraction problems, customer service was good and they sent a new extractor spring free. Instead of replacing the still new one that was on the gun, I added the new one on top of the old one to increase the extractor tension by a significant amount.

Back to the range, the trigger felt much better but still had too much over-travel and the take-up was still very bad. The gun overall felt much smoother to operate and fire. The extraction problem was almost completely fixed, only about 2 in 50 failed, with a little more work I'm sure I could have licked it. But now there was a new problem, trying additional types of ammo revealed that 115gr bullets were no problem but 125's were nose-diving in the magazine causing failures to feed with all three magazines I had.

At this point I was done. I didn't want to waste any more time on a gun I had bought for concealed carry but had zero confidence in. I traded it to another ambitious fellow who wanted to try his hand at fixing it and bought myself a Walther PPS. Wow, talk about going from a Yugo to a Porsche, the Walther looks and runs like a champ right out of the box. Zero issues, incredible trigger, eats everything I feed it without complaint, is only a hair bigger and four ounces heavier than the Kel-Tec.

Until Kel-Tec makes a major update to the gun to fix these problems that are very commonly encountered, I cannot recommend it to anyone. You might be lucky enough to get one that runs right, some have, but I wouldn't chance it. Especially not for a weapon you wish to protect yourself or others with.

for me, Keltec PF9 was a fail. Statistics are BS for most people, percentages. For real people, either It works or it don't. For me, my PF9 was a effen jam o matic. EPIC FAIL.

This website is for posting deals not racist rants about dead kids. If you want to trade dead Trayvon jokes you can go to stormfront's website. I'm sure they will be more than happy to converse with a fellow brother.

You're locked in a cage with a lion, a tiger, and Trayvon. You have a Keltec PF-9 with 2 bullets, what do you do?

-Shoot Trayvon.......twice

What would Trayvon be doing if he were alive today?

-Frantically screaming and clawing at the inside of his coffin.

Did you hear skittles are being pulled from the shelves?

-Turns out they may cause lead poisoning.

How could George have gotten rid of Trayvon without firing a shot?

-Offer him a job

Before any of you get all butt hurt and feel these "JOKES" are racist or inappropriate, remember Mr. Zimmerman was found NOT GUILTY by a jury of his peers from the FACTS presented in a legal preceding... Facts that LEGALLY PROVED Zimmerman to be the VICTIM and Martin the CRIMINAL... and when are jokes about DEAD CRIMINALS not funny? How many of you were calling the jokes inappropriate or racist after we left that scumbag Osama Bin Rotten bleeding in the dirt? So please for the love of guns and dead CRIMINALS, lose the faux guilt and the expired race card already.

So who's in for a Kel-Tec/Skittles Commemorative Edition? Taste the LeadBro! Hot seller Baby, hot seller.
